I have no experience with Windows 8, however it should still work the same. If you have issues, go into properties and change the compatability to "Windows 7" and have it run as admin (if those are options, like I said I have no clue how 8 operates.)

The extra wire is actually used for vibration support for the controllers. Not sure of the color of it, but most USB wires will have the same color combination for matching them to the console.

I found that the USB drives tend to work best when below 4GB in size. Maybe it has something to do with FatX limitations not sure though. Most of my 1 and 2GB drives work in it though.

I've been watching some videos on modding the Xbox. If I want to change the hard drive whats this lock thing people have been talking about, I'm assuming it means I cant just transfer everything to the new hard drive without some special software?

The Hard Drive "lock" refers to the eeprom. Essentially the eeprom "locks" a specific HDD to your Xbox. In order to upgrade your HDD, you need the eeprom from your console (it is located on one of the chips on the Xbox motherboard) you can extract this by 1 of 3 ways. 1, install a softmod, backup the eeprom and transfer to your PC 2. same as 1 except with modchip or 3. use a eeprom reader to manually extract the eeprom. This is the hardest method, but still doable.

Pretty easy actually! You can find compatible emulators from Xbins (which I have uploaded to my skydrive, link is in the description) It'll be under Xbox/Console Based Applications/apps/emulators. Once you have found an emulator, place it in your F:/apps folder (Or E:/apps, depending on your HDD size) then it's as easy as putting roms in the same location and running them from your dashboard!

No, do not clip the wires. You will end up giving yourself a wealth more trouble than needed. Just strip away the wiring enough to solder. I used the tip of my iron on the wire casing itself to melt it away and reveal the wire.

Were did you find a 5 wire usb cable

haha couldn't tell you. Just had it laying around so I used it. You don't need all 5 to make it work, you can manage just fine with the typical 4 wire USB

I tried that NOT using the yellow wire... So I take it we must have a certain USB Flash drive? I tried a 4 wire USB cable twisted wired (not soldered) and a PNY 8GB Drive... What am I doing wrong?????

typically you want to have either an older flash drive (between 512MB space and 2GB space) or you can download a partition manager and partition your drive down to a lower size and format it to fat32 or fat16

OK I tried all this too still nothing :( Did both fat and fat 32 tried different size partitions even. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, maybe I'll have to get a different drive and try that. Any ideas would be welcomed?

Might need an older flash drive or what you could do is purchase (or build) a USB controller adapter. by that meaning instead of the USB port coming out of the controler slot on the Xbox, have one coming off the controller itself. Male end coming off the controller (like the USB end of a 360 controller) then plug the memory card into the controller and plug the controller into the computer. The process should work the same after that. if need be I'll make a short video of that for you.

I tried a different flash drive again today with still no luck. so if I make a controller with a male USB end coming off plug it into the pc with a memory card. The pc will recognize the memory card in the controller? Then I just install the files on the card, and it'll do the same when I plug it into the Xbox. Sorry about all the questions.

I'll double check but yes ) You might have to download an Xbox original USB driver though. (but from what I've seen you don't need one)

What a pain in the butt getting windows 7 to load the driver. Anyways I got that figured out, and windows STILL wouldn't let me access my memory card, what I had to do was use Xplorer360 to load the files to the card. Copied the files, then followed the rest... Works perfectly now...I used Splinter Cell. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks for ALL your help !!!

You make some of the parts way to difficult i just took a part of a controller (the front part that plugs into the xbox) stripped it and stripped a usb and just used electrical tape and works like gold! i also modded my Led lights so half is green and half is red and are always blinking! if you want to see my simpler way of doing a soft mod make this a top comment!

Hey bro I have the same thing and I haven't played it in years, well anyway today I tried to play it and I forgot I put a password on it and forgot it! Do you know if there is anyway I can break or reset the password or do I have to just trash my system now seeing I cant even get into it???

Can you get the save game exploit like say from the internet somewheres and put it on the card via an already softmodded xbox. I got 2 that were softmodded by other people here and dunno if he made a copy of the exploit on there or not. I see a backup folder on the E: drive and the Evoxdash.xbe and evox.ini files there, am I correct in thinking these are the installer files i need to put on the memory card or am I looking in the wrong area?

Any experience with an error "can not find cluster" when copping udata to partition 0 ? Thanks

ok I managed to softmod it through your tutorial.. thanks for the video.. I wanted to see if you knew if it would be possible to use bigger usb drives once the softmod is complete.. like is there a loader for unsupported drives (such as what they did on the ps3 with the ntfs drive reader).. that would be awesome so I don't have to buy a whole new hard drive and take the xbox apart..
