Don't forget to run a few soil tests around your lawn to see what your soil chemistry is reading. It helps you target your lawn's deficiency. Our lawn is super lumpy. Also, a previous homeowner seeded the lawn with a few different types of grass so there are stark differences in the color and texture of the grass. As you walk, you see a clear border line where the species of grass changes. We'll get there.

What type of mower you use for that look. Not the normal one is it? I have a sir walter buffalo seeds and not sure if your suggestion to weed killer would work on mine as well in Australia?

You should 100% top dress with compost after you have applied the seed. The results are a much better and greener lawn!

Hey everyone, quick question! Can I use Jonathan Green Black Beauty Ultra Grass Seed in Southern California where it's really hot and sunny?

I grew my own back lawn almost 20 years ago. Foolishly, I listened to some friends who said, "don't worry, the grass will come back" after a very dry, hot summer with water restrictions here in NJ. It didn't ... but I'm actually looking forward to this project! ... ONE QUESTION though ... WHERE IS YOUR VIDEO on making your own sprinkler setup? I couldn't find it! .... I bought some Orbit sprinklers, but would much rather use the "in ground, pop-up type mounted on the pipe" setup you show in this video! Thanks in advance!

Oh man this is the simplest method I have seen after watching so many videos. People make videos for Pros but not for a homeowner who has another job. Great Video.

You shouldn't have bagged it. I find those clippings work great to keep the seeds moist and gives them nitrogen/natural fertilizer as they break down. The seeds drying out is the main reason I think most people have a hard time with sowing grass seed.

So I just became a homeowner a few weeks ago, my lawn is in awful shape, it's not very big, there is a pretty good amount of shade, but there is maybe 25%-35% grass and the rest is weeds. It is also not very level at all, several large pits and just overall not very level. Would anyone be able to tell me what steps I should take and in what order I should do these things. Take this video for instance, the first thing he has you do is mow with a bag on a very low height, this would not work very well since I have several pits and it is just not level overall. Any help would be much appreciated, im super excited to get my lawn in good condition!

That's not a yard, that's a garden. A yard has got a hard standing. Like a grave has a gravestone, not a tombstone, a tomb would have a tomb underneath.( a void)
