Why can't they produce movies as good as this any more? I count myself blessed to grow up in an era of high quality actors and film makers.

This is one of my favorite movies...It is a true story and and the actors do a great job in their roles...
The story is very sad of course but the climate in this era was not at all sympathetic......Look into
the story of Emit Till if you are not familiar with that story...It is also a sad and heartbreaking story
but it needs to be told ...............................................................................

The scene in the barber shop where he shaves Pell with a straight razor then goes wall to wall is awesome.

Hackman is brilliant in every movie he's in.

One of the best Hackman movies he ever made. I find myself going back to this movie and watching it over through the years.

I like that Gene Hackman’s character was a Southerner. It adds weight to his character. Throughout history, there have been individuals who stood up against odorous cultural norms and laws. Hackman’s character was one of those.

The only movie where Lex Luthor and green goblin team up

I can't decide which unnerves me most about GH: the eyes or the smile.

Great actors and great film.

Hackman is looking toward Dafoe to introduce himself as he is the boss here?? Not sure what to make of this scene as lead FBI investigator, you have to show you are in command and control and make it known to these "people" you mean business. He hangs back and called "boy" and doesant really make much of a oppression if he expects that touch Sheriff to play ball.

My dad was an MP in the Hungarian People's army in the 80s and he remembers their Warrant Officer as Hackman in this scene.
He had the same "cabaret" sentences but he acted like this when somebody acted like the deputy.
Ofc with wide smile too. :D

This Sheriff Stuckey reminds me of Fred Flintstone.

Hackman. What a treasure. The movie sent the message 'we won't do much of nuthin unless a white woman a fed is interested in is assaulted' unfortunately.
