I dont evenike politics but I love the sound of Hansen's voice.
ОтветитьPatton / Coaching Football Equals / Superbowl Victory.
ОтветитьProverbs / Doing Leadership / & / Studying Leadership.
ОтветитьDeductive Logic First / Inductive Logic Second.
ОтветитьThis dichotomy of Patten's relationship with his superiors is a plague in this nation still today...
Administrators who have no real experience in their respective fields not allowing those that do have the experience to do what they are proficient at. The administrators always take the credit for the work done, but when the work under their advisement doesn't go well, they blame it on the workers who were not allowed to do the thing the way they know best how to.
Wonderful, thanks again.
ОтветитьIt's easy to judge but in the moment is real.
ОтветитьIf Patten was incorrectly stopped by Eisenhower from encircling the Germans at the Argentan - Falaise gap thus stopping the possibility of ending WW2 early why does VDH regard Eisenhower so highly as a president? Different set of administration skills perhaps!
ОтветитьO'Reilly makes some good points on Soviet assassination of Patton, who frightened Stalin, especially with Stalin's knowledge that we had nukes and were going to share it with them.
ОтветитьThere are definitely some parallels here between Patton and Trump.
ОтветитьAnother great show Victor.
ОтветитьHanson is awesome
ОтветитьI have read books on Sherman and Patton and VDH hit the nail on the head on both men
ОтветитьI agree 👍!!
ОтветитьI wish VDH would do debates. Pick a military / history topic with opposite perspectives and have a formal debate.
ОтветитьExcellent analysis. Thank you.
ОтветитьVDH 2024
ОтветитьPatton is incredibly overrated. He was excellent in the pursuit. That's about it.
Ike knew it. They all knew it. That's why they put him on the right flank of the western front, where wide sweeping motions could be put to good effect. The minute Patton ran into formidable resistance and could not go around, that's where he struggled.
There's a reason why they put Hodges in the center. He was the man for that job, having to grind through the middle of the German line, without bypassing things that could not be passed, like the Huertgen forest. That's where the war was won.
Love listening to this man
ОтветитьDeep respect for this American Icon.
ОтветитьValuable discussion.
ОтветитьThe art of propaganda right here.
Ответитьjust watch the movie Patton. george c scott is patton.
Ответитьwhat book is he reading from?
ОтветитьLove dr Hanson. Very clear explaination of the events in Israel. Thanks so much. God bless you for sharing so well.
ОтветитьTrump and Patton appear to be very similar. Disliked by peers, loved by the troops , highly successful, respected and even envied. A true leader is like an Eagle, he flies high and alone.
Ответитьhe’s absolutely right furthermore i’ve evolved my thinking on our protestors. i am a staunch constitutionalist feeling that it provides the framework& enforcement for the seperazption of powers. on the other hand I believe the bill of Rights is thsoul or reason d’etre of our country, our soul the true genius of the Founders collaboration
ОтветитьI wonder if Dr. Hanson plays chess. If he does, I bet he's tough to beat.
ОтветитьToward the end they discussed Israel and Hamas. So many of us don't understand that Muslims do not share our morals. They are allowed to lie, cheat, steal as long as it isn't from other Muslims. They pretend when they're a minority, but let them come to power! They have no respect for anyone else. In a Muslim-ruled country, anyone not Muslim has to pay a special tax. If a Muslim leaves Islam, their rules say that the apostate must be slain by faithful Muslims. Just look at the behavior and biography of Mohammed himself. He was a hateful stinker!
ОтветитьIt sounds a bit like Lincoln when Grant was criticized--"I cannot spare this man; he fights!"
ОтветитьWow, wish I could take a course from VDH
ОтветитьExcellent, thank you!
ОтветитьHanson for president
Ответить😅
ОтветитьGood
ОтветитьMmmmmm Existential Steaks
ОтветитьThis is an outstanding descriptive understanding of what it takes to attain battlefield victory.
ОтветитьWhat an amazing man!! Thank you Victor Davis Hanson.
ОтветитьI echo the laudatory comments others have made about this discussion.
In the book "Patton: A Genius for War" it was brought up that Patton suffered a number of serious head injuries from riding (ironically, one would cause the death of his wife) that could have led to many of his behaviors.
Patton was my favorite General of WWII. He was brave but a caring man. My father in law served under him and loved him as a real leader, and a strong leader. He hated Eisenhower. Called him a clerk and weak against the enemy and unwilling to go into an area despite us being close and willing to take the place from the enemy.
ОтветитьI think Patton...(or Sherman) is an example of men with the capabilities to win in conflict generally don't have the disposition to win in gentlemanly hierarchies like politics and vise versa.
Ответить‘The constrained vision vs the unconstrained vision’… 🙌
ОтветитьVDH for president
ОтветитьHe's a smart man, unfortunately he's boomered into believing these were good causes when we have seen the consequences.
ОтветитьVDH recently had his 70th birthday. Let’s hope we have another 20 years of his writing & lecturing.
ОтветитьIs there a way to subscribe to this channel, but only receive notifications for when VDH is in the title? There must be
ОтветитьThank you, Dean Peterson and Dr. Hanson, for this series-- it is exemplary in my opinion. An aside: I have always been struck by the enigma (to me) of Patton's remark, attributed to him in the movie, that "I can't understand why such fine young men have to die, there are so many battles left to fight".Trying to dismiss the remark by asking "What did he expect to happen in battle?" always left me feeling that I was missing something. I believe Dr. Hanson nailed its explanation for me in the passage you cited, Dean, where he writes that [Patton loved war but hated death.] It then seems to me the remark (if authentic) could be construed as emblematic of a paradox that drove and engendered a general who killed the most enemies while sparing the greatest number of American lives of any general in American history. A "blood and guts" general who also demands that his troops have three meals a day, dry socks, and mail.
ОтветитьIsrael are killing Palestinians everyday before Hamas attacked. Israel stole Palestinian land and the only reason the west supports Israel, is Oil. So western society can burn oil and purchase STUFF. A good American believe burning oil is very good for our environment.
ОтветитьWhy would someone be using a Nazi ideology ?
ОтветитьThank you for these office hours sessions, especially with VDH. It is a pleasure and honor to listen to the discussion!!
