Ubuntu for Android

Revisiting Ubuntu Mobile sure sounds like a good idea.

This aged like milk, but we did get the Steam Deck, which isn't quite as handy as a phone to PC experience, but it's a handheld gaming system that is also a PC. Close enough. I remember when Ubuntu was the cool kid on the block...not so much anymore :(

10 years later and i'm still waiting for something similar...

In a perfect world, Ubuntu Touch would be able to run on any android phone. As an app, maybe? Starts up as soon as you pop it onto a charging dock that's also hooked up to a keyboard (with touch pad) and a monitor. Any app developers out there reading who are ready to change the world?

sounds really amaizing. But sadly this project is no longer ... duh.. i was really looking forward to this. By this time Microsoft has came up with something similar. with their lumia 950 and 950xl

i hate tech demos like this targeting non tech audiences with cartoony explanations even though it told me about the direction canonical is heading.

June 2014 and Canonical has only give us sand castles, its time that someone else to take over this idea, sorry Canonical you made yourself into an slow monster that can't innovate and apply at the same time, thank you for coming.

With Apple's new Continuity feature, a lot of the things Canonical set out to do with Ubuntu for Android is now implemented. Well done Apple for taking 2 years to implement this.

should of seen if BLU would of helped out. Their Phones are pretty awesome! :)

Studio 5.5s runs pretty darn well and the battery life lasts longer than the Studio 5.0s by at least a few hours or so lol

Too bad this never came to be. It is vaporware. I don't want an Ubuntu phone, I just want my Note 3 to run a desktop OS when I dock it.

i would just say WOW :D i havn't thoughted this way since i m android developer, but i like ubuntu more :)

Waiting for the time you'll make it real guys, hopefully as soon as possible.

Possibly the greatest moment of my life... If heros exist, Canonical would be one of them, and the Ubuntu teams would be my "hero" for sure. Thank you for making an effort in doing what is obviously right and relieving humanity(partly) from the wave of stupid that looms over our species future.
