2024 Fix: Drag and Drop not working on Windows 10

This still didn’t work I tried to drag the the file and it still wouldn’t drag I restarted the windows file explorer it’s probably my computer is a little slow I have a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX

Neither of these fixed the problem

it works when i start the system, but over a randomized period of time it's like it eventually stops on its own, idk why it does that.

restarting explore fixed the problem thanks man. I just don't understand why restarting my pc didn't work but that did.

If you cannot drag and drop files or folders, then editing this Registry key may also help you. Open regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Change the value of EnableLUA from 1 to 0.

Im trying to drag and drop a google download but it isn't letting me drag it at all

Open my computer then press
Ctrl+shift+escape

Now task manager will open
Click on Windows explorer
And restart it

For me the left click + escape technique worked. On my Windows, click and drag was disabled EVERYWHERE and FOR EVERYTHING: for desktop icons, but also in applications (for example Firefox for tabs, bookmarks, ect ...).

I have a problem with Winrar. I watched this video because I want to solve the problem that I have which is I can't drag and drop my files from Winrar to OpenIV which is also file explorer but specified on one file. Although this comment is kinda late but I still hope that you will reply or heart my comment to notify me when you find a solution. Thanks for your time :)

resetting explorer did the trick - thanks! Oddly enough it was only happening to one of my hdds. I was so sick of that escape method...littering the internet lol.

For those of you who can't get it - If you right click the file(s) hopefully you'll get an option to "send to..." the drive of your choice. Though for me, it only included my external/USB

windows explorer restart did it thanks solve my windows pan not dragging.
