9 years ago, I was 22, unemployed, very broke, and completely paralyzed by terror. This video made me feel much less alone. Today, my baby puked on my face. After cleaning us both up, I thought, "John Green was right. This is definitely better than any day in my early twenties." Adulthood really does get a lot better.

I love mentions of Ransom. I love Miss Peregrine's, and I more or less discovered John Green through him.

I know that not many people know about this. There is a program called AmeriCorps and it is a very good place to learn more about adulting. It is a volunteer program that is 10 months long and you travel a region of the united states with a team doing various things from urban development to disaster response. In exchange for your work all of your food, housing and transportation is payed for. It is pretty easy to get into, you need to pass a drug test and a background check. They will even fly you from your home state to one of the 5 campuses across the country. It is a great experience and you even get a $5,800 education award at the end. Also if you get part way through the program and decide it's not for you they will pay to send you back home.

Coming back to this again 6 months after graduating and . . . trying not to cry. Is there an agency for Ilenes out there somewhere?
