Movie has outstanding bgm and awesome cinematography. What a classic piece of art.

The effort, vision and intention poured into this movie certainly shows, and the result is of a remarkable beauty.
In Italian we have a saying that is meant to convey how important beauty can be, that goes something like "even the eye wants it's share".
In case of this movie though, I would add that everything else wants it's share too. Beauty per se is not enough.
The writing and screenplay comes across as what I never thought I would call a SRK movie: slightly boring.
Characters are over the top, rigid, hieratic, unreal and ultimately hardly any relatable.
Karuwaki in particular was written in a deeply irritating and offensive way. She doesn't even feel like a real person, more like a living item song. She is literally forced to look sexy even while almost dying.
I think they simply went too hard on the solemn tone they wanted to give the whole thing.
And someone please create a special award for making the impossible possible: having the ending to a 3 hours movie feel rushed.
One thing I found really clever about the ending though, is how the depiction of violence and death suddenly changed. Throughout the movie, there is violence but it's not remotely as graphic as to justify the 16+ rating it has on Netflix, so I said to myself: holy moly, the only thing about this movie that is not for innocent eyes is SRK's looks.
Then everything dramatically changes in the ending, when Asoka stops glorifying war, killing and violence, and we get to see really gory, almost grotesque depictions of death, as Asoka realises the horrors he caused.
It would have been better if that part happened around 3 quarters far into the movie, and the last quarter at least was devoted to actually exploring and showing his deep change rather than doing little more than just mentioning it.
