How to backup/restore Database on Odoo 12

Hi. I am using odoo 11
The problem i am facing on all my systems is that it is giving a internal server overload error on taking a backup or restoring a sample database. No matter what i do in the database manager, i get this error. Plz help. I have almost 2 years of my company data in it. It worked fine in the beginning. But i dont know how this problem started since one and half year. I also tried taking a backup from postgresql admin 3 application which is in a different file format and completely different. Unable to restore it like the original. Plz help....
