I made this for Christmas, adding a couple of handfuls of crushed dark chocolate bits. It was absolutely delicious and so easy for those of us less than skilled in the kitchen. I'm doing it again today for a friends and family dinner.

Tried this recipe and turns out it's not ice cream it's frozen whipping cream which does not taste like ice cream at all. More like a tough block of frozen whip cream.

So what went wrong? I followed directions properly, but it seemed that my cream never did form “peaks”. I even tried a different beater and let it go for ages. The cream was not outdated either. Maybe just a cheaper cream? It is a brand very popular in this area and I have used many others of their goods. How long do most of you wait for the cream to form peaks? It seemed ages for me but maybe it takes much longer than I expected. I do a lot of baking, so not much really goes wrong these days. Any ideas?

If you only have evaporated milk then just add 1/2 -3/4 of a cup of sugar to the mixture and it will taste just as good

What if I’m a dog

A blender is not needed for this great recipe. I use an electric hand mixer with the same ingredients and the results are flawless, i.e., absolutely no crystals and super smooth. Damn I love ice cream!

Is there anything I could use instead of heavy cream? I read I could replace the condensed milk with sugar, but I didn't see if I could replace the heavy cream.
