This happened to me not long ago. I was on a call and suddenly no signal. I learned my sim card was hacked and someone had gotten into my crypto account using my phone number through my crypto account's security code text message authentication. Luckily, i had no investments in there at the time.

Literally just happened to me2 weeks ago!!!..... SIM card went out, got it reactivated and within hours 50k was wired to someone's account from my bank account!!!!!.... HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!.... THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR THESE SCUMBAGS!!!

Sometimes bad actors work for cell carriers, that's why I pay the bill online myself rather than Physical in store- Because I don't trust giving my personal information to some random high school student behind the counter.
During those rare times when I change cell carriers for a better deal- I always change my phone number through my online account when I get home because I don't want to run the risk of being sim swapped by them.

Why are people storing financial information on their cell phones? That’s plain stupid! Excellent story.

Why no consequences for this hackers? Why they didn’t get lock up yet. People work hard for their money and these hackers just stole it within minutes!

Sim swapping on certain GSM type cell carriers where they offer an upgrade, so lets say you had damaged your phone, what you could do is do a sim swap on a 3 year ol' unlocked phone, to recieve an upgrade when sim swapped! Thus replacing your current damaged phone because you cannot upgrade eith your current cel phone, so you used an old phone to replace your broken one to gain the upgrade free cellphone

This is perty much what nexo did to a huge group of their customers 3 different times. They removed the pay button on their website in the middle of the night rite after jay clayton put the lawsuit on ripple (3 days from his retirement day...he now works for a co that has to do with bitcoin..) so of course the price dropped for a few weeks. Being that they had given us loans with no prepayment penalties they were using our tokens as collateral so when the price dropped they knew that we were going to want to pay off our loans or pay them down to state in the loan to value. So they conveniently remove the pay button which was are only possible way to pair loans. Then completely blocked us out and tell the morning after they had stolen our tokens... The kicker is how they tried to sell them back to us at a higher price on a loan... It was my entire life savings my retirement as well as my capital because I was making a living at trading its ever since I was hurt really badly hospitalized in can go back to my job. Completely devastated me and Pretty much ruined my life
