Matek F405-WMN Wiring and PORT Setup for INAV

Thank you Lee. As always a great video on setting up the ports with this flight controller. One minor nuisance with the F405 WMN is that you have to solder to a pad to get S1 and S2 for the ESC signals. It would have been so much more convenient to have these on pins.

Hi can you explain what is INAV? And is it possible to extract flight data like acceleration, altitude, angular rates etc from this flight controller that you have used?

also i can connect on uart 2? or that's only for sbus? i have no osd on uart 2 via msp displayport.

I'm stuck on a old 411 as well. Can you run GPS on soft serial?

What version of INAV are you using here? I have this board and with versions 6.0 and 6.1 I cannot get SBUS and SMARTPORT operating at the same time. Both use RX/TX2 pins, with SMARTPORT using SOFTSERIAL. Both work but not at the same time, I have to delete the Serial UART2 for the SBUS to get SMARTPORT working

How are you managing power for the Walksnail system? Are you running an external bec or using the vbat pin?

What if I have Walksnail VTX/OSD + GPS + Elrs CRSF? Will I be able to give them each a full UART that isn't inverted or hardware limited on the IO pins?

Just a general question can the flight controller be installed off axis on the roll ??

Hello I really appreciate your videos, they solved many of my problems. I have exhausted UART ports, and I'm trying to create a softserial in INAV but I couldn't do it, and I asked others and they told me that it's impossible in INAV, very strange thing .. although I used the same procedure as in betaflight . Reason I have to add a bluethoot module that communicates phone with the flight controller for my mission points. Is there another way to solve my problem? ie also installing the BT 06 bluethoot module via the R9slim outputs?

Hi Painless, only meeeee xD , sorry im asking so many questions across diff vids, im trying to learn both i nav and wiring the FC and just got walksnail so having to learn that too, my brain is a bit fried lol. So its hard to see but for power to your WS did you take a pos and neg off the Pads where the battery wire is connected? im planning to use a little jst wire and connector like that also so it can be disconnected.

While ordering the electronics for an AR Wing Pro I noticed the MATEKSYS F405-MiniTE Flight Controller, which has 6 UARTS. Is this an option rather then the F405 WMN?

Does the GPS not connect if the other two wires for the compass are connected? Some reason I cant get my compass to turn on.

Can you configure the uart port for telemetry module such as 3DR in mission planner?

EDIT: Fix for no log data with this board (matek f405-wnm) seems to be that you need to set "LOG_BLK_RATEMAX" to 50, or some other value other than 0. 50 worked for me. I spent literally an entire day messing around with this until I managed to change the right param to get it working.

I just got this FC and am new to ardupilot and all of this. Maybe someone here knows how to help. I've managed to get everything wired up, configured, armed, and have had a successful flight with manual mode and fbwa, but one thing has me stumped. The log data seems to be corrupt. I have not changed any settings to do with logging that I know of, but when I try to analyze logs in any program including mission planner, it seems like it's bad data/empty or corrupt, despite a 7mb .bin file. Converting to a .log results in a 0 byte file. Some analyzers complain about "no FMT messages" or similar. I have no idea what is causing this or how to fix it.

Why Uart1 is set to MSP, and not Uart5 ( where walksnail is plugged ) ?? Or am i missing something ? Thanks

My radiomaster r86c v2 doesnot contain smartport can i still connect it through sbus??

What target did you use in inav to download the latest firmware?

What about the scl & sda wires coming from the GPS module … ??? Are we supposed to leave them out ?

Thank you for the video! One.question. Is the old school 405-wing ok for walksnail?. In the other video you mentioned It has many uarts but i do not know ifnthe hardware suports walksnail.I am quite Happy with the FC and i boutht the walksnail VRs. Thanks as always

Hey Painless-thanks for all the super helpful videos. I am about to maiden my first wing--a Sonic Modell AR Pro. I have religiously followed your excellent instructions to get to this point.

One question: I've noticed you don't often mention the FC I am using. Is there a reason you don't use the Matek H743 Wing V3? Is it just overkill or something else I am missing?
