Barrera wasn't busy enough and needed to do more side to side and throw a right hand lead. when he did throw the right hand lead he connected but didn't continue.... for lightweights, neither threw enough punches.

For me Hamed's changing of trainer etc didn't work. He was much more explosive under Brendan Ingle and just got guys out of there. Without doubt they weren't in the same class as Barrera but I think had this fight taken place a couple of years earlier Naz would have stopped him. Hamed still had an unbelievable career, was a great showman and knockout specialist but sometimes change doesn't always work. Great fight from Barrera though, fully deserved victory! 🥊

I love both of these guys. This was a popular win at the time because Hamed came off so cocky. Ultimately, both are HOFers and awesome to watch. Foreman's commentary went from being quizzical to absolutely bizarre in this fight. To the point he's accusing Lampley of things and telling him he should watch himself. Vastly unprofessional.

Towards the end of round 9, several punches from Barrera landed clean on Hamed's face. I think because of his overbearing, cocky nature thus he would try to be kidding and making faces with Barrera like there was nothing serious about his being taught by the Dangerous Mexican.

Big George was drowning in his feelings this whole fight. Even Merchant was compelled to check him. Love George, but he was a mark for Naz ever since the Kelley fight when he hollered "He's real, the Prince is for real!"
