This was such a great lesson on modes! I have been learning a bit here and there about modal harmony, but this video cleared up so much, Thank you!
ОтветитьI remember this guy, from the 360p days.
ОтветитьShouldn't the 7th in Ionian be a dim chord?
ОтветитьUseful lesson as always. Trying to write some tunes and revisiting switching between modes effectively.
I can't access the cheat sheet for some reason. Anyone here got a copy and able to send it through? Cheers.
Love your videos man … keep them a coming
ОтветитьThis is classic David. I love this format. Not a big fan or viewer of the newer style of videos that he is putting out.
ОтветитьWOW....This ones going to a while to digest. GREAT video BrotherMan....
ОтветитьGreat stuff David! I have a question about your studio as I'm looking to "soundproof" (reduce volume for outsiders) my room and search for something more effective than foam. You have a cool situation going on in the background. What are you using for the sound dampening and acoustics? Thanks.
Ответитьthats a beautiful looking and sounding guitar!
ОтветитьSkip to 6min in for the lesson
ОтветитьI've been binge watching your lessons David! I got so much out of your videos on modes - they are finally starting to make sense to me. This was the answer to my next question on modes - how to create some modal chord progressions in whichever mode I wanted to jam over. Thank you so much for all the great lessons!
ОтветитьThis video really enlightens me!Thanks a lot!
Ответитьtoo much talking
ОтветитьNice...thanks!
ОтветитьI think I’ll watch one of your newer videos. This one was kind of confusing, though I understand the concept
Ответитьfinally after years of searching the simple truth about modal chord progressions has been revealed to me, many thanks David!!!!!!!!
Ответитьeverything becomes clear now after all this time trying to learn! thank you
ОтветитьThanks I am now jamming within the modes, I get it at last!
ОтветитьWhere did you get C Maj if the key is A Maj ???? ?????????????????????????????
ОтветитьGreat lesson!!! I always think about the#4 defining Lydian not realizing the 2 degree can define that mode as well!!!! Love learning more!!!🙏🙏🙏
ОтветитьI love these lessons
Ответитьas always the best lesson, just perfect, thank you so much
ОтветитьI love all the inventiveness in this!! but you do sound like a huge stoner as well as an audiophile lmao
ОтветитьHey David! what's the song at the of the video in the background? I really loved it. Please take out time to share the details. I guess it's one of your originals.
ОтветитьOne of your best David. I downloaded the pdf and printed it but couldn’t remember the details, but I knew it was something that really got my attention, so I had to find it again. On the second listen I realized this really helped in understanding how modes can be used and why they are much more than the same notes of the parent scale. Thanks for unlocking it for me!
ОтветитьThis video needs to have it's title changed! The channel is usually good, but this lesson was not clearly explained. I watched it twice very carefully but to no avail.
Ответитьnot making sense... why not use the Am shape for minor and AM for major?
ОтветитьLet me just say, you are the man
Ответить7b5 vs dim?
ОтветитьDavid is appeared like a great foundation for my music career. Wanna break confusion? Visit this channel.
ОтветитьAwesome.. the m7b5 reference was enough for me to understand the example inonian canvas but one question how shall this apply if we replace it with 3rds chord on the same canvas. btw Great lesson. Thnx.
ОтветитьDavid! It's amazing. I could understand the purpose of modes just right after this short video. GREAT job!
Thank you!
Hi David, U play major, minor, diminished. So it can be 5th(major), 6th(minor), dimished. So it can be mixolydian too, not necessarily ionian.
ОтветитьMagic sounds, magic links for awesome licks ! Trop fort ! Thank you David.
ОтветитьShame
ОтветитьVery insightful and profound lesson, thanks David 🎸🎸🎸
ОтветитьAwesome! This is a powerful tips. Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьThis channel needs more views !! :(( great lesson...!! SUBSCRIBED !!
ОтветитьGreetings David. Has the link to the cheat sheet been disabled? I am getting an error message. Thanks from a chilly Nova Scotia. 8 )
ОтветитьSeems like gibberish
ОтветитьDave, I thought I was smarter than you until you mentioned that you can use the first 4th and 5th modes for the major chord. A brand new simple revelation today. I bow in humble honour in this enlightened moment..Sorry, "moment of enlightnment" Hail King David, Hail...Thanks buddy, great lesson as usual..
ОтветитьGreat lesson!
Ответитьso, a mode not only is related to a major scale, but also the mode has its own chord progressions "inside", correct? if you are composing in A dorian (G major), the A dorian chords will fall under the "dorian" chord progression? so A dorian= A minor will be first degree then, 2nd degree is B major , 3rd degree is C major, 4th D minor, 5th E minor and so forth? or A dorian will have same chord progression as G major? Thanks!
ОтветитьWhat a dude.
ОтветитьCan you do a lesson on different scale shapes for the modes & how to play them in context?
ОтветитьOther videos have some pretty good subtitles, they are in Italian and they are painful if it is embarrassing.
Anyway, thank you very much for your time
I'm confused, there is a step (2 1/2 steps) between 1 and 2 in Ionian but only 1half step between 7 and 8. The first two shapes in Ionian are working for me but not the third? What am I doing wrong?
ОтветитьI learned a lot here! Thank you!
