If anyone's wondering about the battery, the hero 8 battery has a higher discharge rate so as to support the hypersmooth calculations. The other batteries have a lower discharge rate so don't power hypersmooth as well. That's why the message is there. If you're worried about pop-up mount bits getting wobbly, you can just buy a skeleton cage for the GoPro so you don't have to take the camera out all the time, cuz you can access all the buttons through it.

The batteries get swollen like crazy and the mounts do start to work out where u can barely move it

yeah, the new folding finger legs really suck ass. luckily stabilisation is pretty good these days. still. the y coul have made them just at a much better machining grade with samller tolderances and less play.

Gopro needed to fix being able to watch video. Sliding up the screen often does not work. Ugh!

He's complaining about the lens not being replaceable when in fact it's simply being held in with double-sided tape 😂

He's trying to complain about the loose mounting legs when in fact he didn't even tighten the screw all the way down 😂

The hero 8 lens cover can be replaced but it is a pain in the back side. Need a heat gun and pry tool. Battery - I use external Anker batteries. I put the camera into an ulanzi case whose door keeps batter inside and has a port for an external battery hookup.
I did have some major issues with Hero 8 today - 1) it crased, 2) it froze, 3) it would not turn on, 4) some videos had no sound, 5) it would not turn off after freezing had to remove battery.

Have had this camera for over a year and used it for less than 1/2 an hour. So disappointed with this purchase

The legs are great, the notice makes sense... have to agree with the battery issues though.

They put a chip in the battery so you can't use after-market battery's? They do it for ink cartages, toner cartages. Its so you have to buy their batteries?

I've been using a hero 8 GoPro since February 2022 and I've only found 1 problem and it's pretty minor being that the video time warp mode (at 5x speed and higher) sometimes delays in a tiny way

I just returned a GoPro 8 black after about 5 days, had an insane amount of issues with it, constant SD card errors and then rectified itself before formatting even after the card had been formatted multiple times. Back screen constantly freezing and sometimes wouldn't even turn on at all. Then when charging would run extremely hot. Did I just get a faulty camera? I really want an action cam for surfing and snowboarding but I don't want to get screwed on a dodgy camera again that I miss filming another entire holiday because of.

Gopro customer service is TERRIBLE!

Mine doesn't do that, my legs are strong on mine. I record on my helmet riding my quad, at high speeds through thick mud, water, deep ruts, over trees etc. Only thing I hate is the over beating issue, but I can get almost an hr or more at 2.7k 60fps. I also get about an hour and a half or more 1440p 60fps time lapse.

The last one was fine but the other ones he shouldn’t be complaining about

It means the GoPro battery is not specifically meant for the GoPro 8 it was meant for the 5 6 7 and they upgraded the battery

He didn’t even tighten it that much he just slapped it on there pretty much.

My main beef with GoPro is the software. They must be on some kind of hard drug when they program their stuff, because there are so many bugs it's ridiculous.

I use (or try to use) my GoPro-8 for recording flights. It only works 1/2 the time. e.g. I go on a one hour flight and after landing, I confirm the red light in still blinking, indicating that it is still recording, so I press the shutter button and wait for the activity light to go out before pressing the power button. Later when I try to read the memory card - it only has a one minute clip. I missed some priceless and cool flights due to this horrible and unreliable camera and am looking for an alternative, if anyone has ideas - DJI, maybe?

I get this video is a couple years old but to bitch about the camera not running right when using a different battery in a camera is asinine!!!! Spend the extra $20 and buy the correct battery to have as a backup. That is dumb as hell to hold that against the camera because you can’t use the correct battery!!!! No shit the battery message doesn’t come up when you use the RIGHT battery! Idiot!!!

I’m sorry but I’ve not had a single issue with stabilisation due to the legs on the camera and I have it mounted to the front cowling of my motorcycle which is shake city.

What a piece of junk design on the new mount fingers...We have only had months now & 1 of our 5 broke off on a ride & we lost it... What moron on the design team thought of this?? He needs to be fired & a new design to replace it. My old ones had no problem at all with weak spots.. GO PRO REALLY DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS DESIGN..Who cares if it records great when your loosing a $400 camera weekly...

Problem 1 Solved: Slap a rubber bushing on it to take up the slack (rubber washer). At least until they fix the problem in newer models. 👍🏾

You can not get lense glass replaced gopro say costs more than to replace whole unit

If I just tighten the bolt down a bit more there is very little give (wiggle). The screen lense thing sucks tho.

For me, my biggest gripes are the lens and battery door. The lens, what was the point of having a fixed lens? If I sent or scratch that thing I just lost something I spent a lot of money on. And for the battery door, why is the sd card and charging port in the same place as the battery? If I want to charge my battery while filming, I have to expose the sd card and battery.
