ОтветитьSweet rifle...love the discolored hear treating. Looks great
ОтветитьRex. I was watching the Sniper101 videos. And i look at you now. My God, you’ve gotten fat😝. But nice review and thanks for the sniper101 tutorial. Its helping me a lot. Keep up the good work
ОтветитьHey Rex my son is deployed at the moment but he wants to know what you think about 7mm 1:7 twist 24” barrel with the 175-190 grain pills?
He already took it out to 1,500 meters with 162 and 1:8 twist...
Rex Please come out with a mil target! All of my optics are mil 😱
ОтветитьI've heard good things regarding Athlon optics. Specially their high-end products.
How about their Midas class?
price?
ОтветитьAny optics recommendation for 7.62 x39 rifle? Use: shtf
ОтветитьIOR Valdada Recon G2 comprehensive review?
ОтветитьGlad you finally got to this
ОтветитьI've been using a $200 weaver with BDC on my ar15 for years...pretty accurate as it is for what I do but planning on a prism scope from Primary Arms...but cheap scopes can get you buy if you don't want or have the money for something better...just learn your scope and you will be fine.
ОтветитьNice rifle, Not a Decka lol. Rock On!!! :-)
ОтветитьMil Grid Please! Since HORUS discontinued their target like this you can’t get them and NO ONE makes it... I have looked!
ОтветитьMy Sightron S2 has served me well for 16 years now. I would buy another.
ОтветитьFind the value... wise words
ОтветитьSo what's it going for
ОтветитьCheck out the S3 and SV scopes from sightron.
ОтветитьWhat is "this price point"?
Is there a $ number that coincides with the term "price point"?
$100?
$500?
$1000?
Where can we buy the targets?
ОтветитьWhy not SWFA 16x?
ОтветитьAfter watching your sniper 101 series I have switched to first focal plain scopes on every rifle I own from my 17hmr, .22-250 all the way to my .338LM. I’m nowhere near the shot that you are but do you find it difficult to transition from a first to a second focal scope? I am by no means a rich man but after your 101 series I run nightforce and US Optics exclusively but it would be nice to have an adorable scope on a mid range rifle that I didn’t have to stress and worry about like my others.
ОтветитьDo u know anything about the 10 x 50 x 60 Sightron scopes. How much recoil can they take ?
ОтветитьLove my S TAC 4-20x50. I have one on my Sako roughtech 7mm Rem and it's been a brilliant scope to date, I've taken deer out at over 700yds and regularly ring steel at 900yds. Always returns to zero and like yours my elevation turret tracks true but the windage isn't as true. I hold for wind anyway so it hasn't been an issue.
ОтветитьRex Grid in mil not MOA
Thanks
Um, funny but the best tire for running on ice is a ...slick. Most rubber contact. Have an S-Tac and love it. Great reticle.
ОтветитьI have 2 Sightron SIII's. Love them for the price. Love the MOA2 reticle. Only thing I don't like, no zero stop.
ОтветитьI am looking to get into some distance shooting 300 to 400 yds this is the limit at my range with a 5.56 bolt rifle I am looking for the best scope for this range that keeps the price within reason in my opinion and my shooting preference brightness and. Clarity are the key components this will be a bench rifle so go to war ruggedness is not a super concern how would you rate the clarity and brightness of sightron compared to some of the other high end glass you have tried I have the sightron 33mm red dot on one of my bullseye pistols and frankly it out performs the more expensive ultradot I have on my other pistol, so i am attracted to the sightron brand. What about other options in the 500 to 600 range, like athelon... thanks
ОтветитьI had a 2.5-17.5x56 stac, broke after 300 shots of 308, parallax lenses came loose
ОтветитьON MY SAVAGE LPV12 .243 all tracking perfect at 100yds rare find or luck
Ответитьhi...informative review,as always....you mentioned it twice, and from everything I've read, sightron's are made in Japan....so,is it japan,or the phillipines?? even their web site says japan,so im confused...also,what model was this scope that you were talking about...I would like to read up on it alittle more,..overall,most of sightrons, 3lll 8-32x56 with zero stop, etc, seem to be priced in the under 1k price range...what scope out there in the same range, will out perform this scope, hands down//// thanks for a response...
ОтветитьWood and steel, got to love it!
Ответитьi'd like to see you review the 3-16 model!
ОтветитьThe S-Tac 5-20X 50mm is a pretty good scope and has been favorably compared to the S3 (the next level up in Sightron's scope brands). However, its performance is not nearly as close to the S3. I have a S3 6-24X 50mm and recently purchased the S-Tac 5-20X 50mm. Both scopes are the 2nd focal plane and MOA-2 reticle models so I was able compare two fairly similar scopes. My findings are as follow:
1) On the S-Tac, the eye relief and the angle you have to look into the scope becomes very critical at a magnification setting of 16X and above. If your head is tilted just a little bit off the center or is a little too far or too close to the ocular lens you will immediately lose the aperture/window when looking into the scope. The eye relief and angle in which you have to look into the ocular lens on the S3 is much less critical at a high magnification setting.
2) The S-Tac and S3 tracked equally well when the horizontal and vertical adjustment were tested.
3) On the S-Tac, when looking at a target at the same distance when the magnification setting was increased, the parallax adjustment has to be made along with the change in magnification. When the magnification setting was changed from the lowest (5X) to middle (10X) to the highest a noticeable able parallax problem developed. On the S3, when the magnification setting was adjusted when looking at a target at a set distance, no adjustment had to be made made. There were not parallax issue when the maginfication was adusted from the lowest to highest setting.
4) The color contrast of a target's image from the S-Tac is less well defined than the S3. On the S3, looking at a blue and a yellow piece of paper place next to each other at 100 yard the blue looked blue and yellow looked yellow at the area where the two pieces of paper met. On the S-Tac, however, there was a greenish quality in the image at the area were they met.
5) At low light condition (very early dawn and very lat dusk) I can see fairly clearly the black bullseye of a standard black and white target at 100 yards with the S3 on a 6X to 16X magnification setting. On the S-Tac, the bullseye was barely noticeable and this was with the magnification setting at 5-12X. Above 12X up to 14X I had to struggle to see the bullseye. Above 14X,... forget it.
6) The ocular lens and parallax adjustment on the S-Tac has to adjusted more often than the S3 when the distance of a target changed. Otherwise, the vertical cross hair looks slightly bent and/or image of the target becomes too blurry or distorted.
Just got in the 3-16x42 MOA3 and the glass is very clear even compared to both of my 10x42 SWFA SS. I got mine on Black Friday sale for $249
ОтветитьDoes turning till it's clear equal no parallax? Or do the two line up at different points? Parallax by definition has nothing to do with clarity and all to do with the movement of the reticle on the target when your eye is in various places behind the scope cause nobody lines their eye up in the exact place each time therefore the parallax adjustment is suppose to rid of this error in accuracy. The fast focus eye piece is what's suppose to be adjusted for clarity. Now I have more testing to do I guess. Doubt many have actually measured and checked the actual parallax at the settings on the scope measuring the distance vs the settings to ensure they're accurate. Need to mount the gun in a solid position and move the eye back and forth to tell. Without solidly mounting I've always thought my parallax knobs seemed to be decently accurate. Any parallax experts out there to comment with any actual scientific data they have came up with to compare the scopes recommended setting to the actual reticle parallax free sighting distance?
ОтветитьThe Big Sky and S3 are made in Japan. The older S2 was also made in Japan and was a great scope for the money.
The S-Tac are made in the Philippines, they discontinued the 2-10x32 and 4-20x50 scopes which are selling at good prices now.
Very good review. One of the few which does not sound like a Sightron promotion. Very down to earth and honest as well as critical. The S-Tac is going to be the only Sightron low end scope very soon. They did away with the Big Sky then SII line except the 36X. The entire S1 line is on its way out the door now too. Sightron antiquates too many scopes too fast for me.
ОтветитьWhat the closest it will focus?
ОтветитьI have a couple of Sightron S3's an 8-32 and a 10-50 both with the LRTD reticle for shooting long range, absolutely swear by them, great scopes.
