Big Alpha Male Chimp Carlos Rejects Females Hand

This is a good example of a female chimpanzee approaching a dominant male with a show of submission. The smaller chimp Farthing lowers her head to Carlos, this is to make herself appear smaller and non aggressive, she also presents her hand to him as a sign of trust.
Farthing, the female chimp in this video is the mother of Dylan, who is the mother of the other dominant chimp Dylan.
It's always great to see the chimps outside on a day like this.
The Chester Zoo troop really is a wonderful family of chimps, of course they have their ups and downs, they fight, they argue and often life in captivity seems restrictive for these wild animals but for this group of chimps who's parents and grandparents were saved from cruelty and confined captivity, life is good.
