Hey Jonathan! I have an CX5 2022 and it doesn’t apply the parking brake automatically anymore. Do you know what is going on?

Still rather have a cable parking brake, than this useless garbage. No use if you loose your brakes...

I have never ever used a braking brake in my life. I had a stroke and is not able to use my right hand. New cars are so overcomplicated with complete crap that the average person is never ever, ever, going to use. I guess I will be driving my cx-30 forever.

Question: How does one use an "Emergency Brake" in a Mazda 3 / CX-30? Do you lift up on the parking brake button and hold it up? Or is there no functional emergency brake on these Mazdas?

So is it the normal situation to apply the electronic parking break whenever leaving the car, just like the old fashioned handbrake?

Is there a way to stop the electronic parking brake from engaging automatically once you're parked up?

I know that technically you're not supposed to rely on the parking pawl in the transmission, but I will be parking my 3 up for a few weeks at the airport and dont want the rear pads welded to the discs by rust.

Or does the extra pressure from the electric brake make this less of an issue?

Thanks Jonathan for great video. I'm on the other side of the pond doing the right hand drive, so brake controls will be left handed. Think Mazda could improve it by making the controls easier to find physically and NOT putting any LED on them, as you should never be looking down. It's the future though so I need to go for a test drive. Think it will be ok with Mazda's lovely hydraulic Asin Autobox. I'm not so sure about it all in a manual pudding stirrer as I don't yet have three legs (my traditional preference is to left foot brake an auto when I get to the "getting ready to go" point.). Thanks again for a great video.

It is possible this could be an example of over engineering since simply putting the parking brake on would accomplish the same thing. At the least there should be a way to permanently disengage auto hold for those who don't want it. Just my experience but keep making everything overly complicated, people like that, it will help your sales.

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 doesn't seem to auto disengage. At least in reverse I am sure. Seat belt or no seat belt. And what about valet or garage parking attendants they don't always wear seat belts? My dealer only pointed it out after my purchase and mentioned he hates it as well.

Isn't kind of funny. This great new feature and nobody likes it....I thought car companies listened to their customers but not on this one obviously. This Isn't a Maxda thing all the car companies are fitting these things and ditching the simple mechanical ones that everyone understands, can use and hardly ever goes wrong. LOL.

I find that parking break to be highly annoying. It’s an automatic car ... why is it there? I think our Toyota CHR actually does the same thing but when you put the car in drive it just goes, and when you park you can feel the car auto lock down- no button/control needed. There is literally no need for that control and it’s a bit confusing when you first get the car, but I see people have addressed this, I’ll make sure the seatbelt is buckled before putting it in drive and see.

I would like to not have to release the parking brake every time I start the car. It isn't necessary most of the time. If I think I need to, I will pull up on the parking break. I'm sure there must be a way to remove the auto parking brake from my start-up routine. Can you help me disable that auto feature?

@deandrabin306 - 05.10.2020 01:25

Okay, while it's a nice safety feature that EPB won't release until you have your seatbelt on, here's where it's annoying: moving the car out of the garage and onto the driveway (to wash the car, load it, etc.), then back into the garage when the chores are done. Even though I'm not actually driving anywhere, this feature won't let me move the car---even by a few feet, unless I put the seatbelt on...every single time!

Ответить

The EPB is a royal pain in the neck. If you pull into your garage, it will always set and you have to remember to always disengage it before reversing out of your garage. No way to disable this annoying "feature".

As you saw, the car doesn't allow you to move withouth having the seatbelt on. Now try doing it with the parking break on and you will see that it will auto disengage for you.

Ответить
@testingpsrk7143
@testingpsrk7143 - 23.06.2020 13:34

If you start the engine, put on your seatbelt, go into first gear or Drive in case of AT, start accelerating the car as you would want to set in motion and the parking break will disengage by itself. That's why it's called Auto Parking Break. I own a Mada 3 sedan 2019 model.

I have a CX-30 and if you lightly touch the accelerator the automatic parking brake it will disengage when put from park to D and i don't have to use the parking brake switch but the driver has to have their seat belt on for it to auto disengage that way.
