Remember when the cultists said Max's 2022 championship should have been taken away because the team had a "minor" breach of the cost cap rules the previous year. When exactly did they call for hamilton's 2008 championship to be taken away because McLaren broke not the rules, but the law, the previous year.

How you guys can sit there and laugh about a fine being too harsh in terms of its value and playing the actual crime down like you have is ridiculous. In a sport where teams spend millions finding tenths of a second, how on earth could you suggest it’s not as big a deal as the $100M fine and loss of constructors points would deem?

They had nearly 800 pages of their direct competitors IP. Nobody can really say how it influenced the 07 and 08 cars, because there is no way to prove it didn’t directly or indirectly inspire learnings or actual fittings to those cars. That’s why IP is precious and guarded so fiercely.

Their drivers and the team should have lost all points and the team should have been disqualified from the following season too.

The lP belongs to the team and whoever owns it, not the FIA. It only happened after Ferrari made a complaint.

The reason it wouldn't happen today is because of the technology the teams now have allows a team like Racing Point in 2020 to roll out a replica Mercedes made from photo scans. The teams have the knowledge of others designs without needing blueprints.

i dont see how spygate has anything to do with whether alonso decided to go to redbull instead of ferrari in 2010. thats probably the reason he doesnt have 5 or 6 titles, not spygate.

F1 is supposed to be a spectacle. Since it went to the hybrids, going in person is no longer a thrill worth thousands of dollars for a couple days in the stand. People who didn’t even like racing would get excited hearing the cars in person. This is no longer the case.

Loved the episode, but it’s incredibly easy to steal data and of course no one would email it to themselves.

I agree with Matt Bishop that there’s a lot less of edge, ruthlessness, etc. in the sport. Back then the big players viewed F1 as the most important thing in the world and in a way it made sense cause there was so much less stability and guys like Dennis, Frank, Bernie, etc. had their entire lives invested in the sport.
