I am so confused by this chapter. Ichigo has his old Shikai again instead a dual Zanpakuto. What happened? Does he now have just 1 because his Quincy and Hollow Powers were stolen? Is he now in permanent Bankai? Did his Bankai become his Shikai? So confusing. But I guess now Ichigo can transform... oh wait, he has no hollow powers so he can't use Horn of Starvation or whatever.

I am sure Aizen was knocked out but for some reason they healed him and put him back to muken. I think they sealed him before healing otherwise who knows that happened. Why even heal him to be honest but I guess that's repaying him somehow because you never know when you need Aizen again.

I like the subversion of expectation with the "Ghouls." The removal of their holes, and having them placed outside of their bodies makes them akin to "halos." The one appearing behind Szayelaporro in particular has the appearance of a gloriole-like halo typical of religious iconography; which can't possibly be a coincidence.

I think when they mentioned Aizen and Yhwach, they were specifically talking about how their absence essentially makes the world of the living and the Soul Society "low-pressure zones" in terms of spiritual power, while Hell is now a "high-pressure zone" due to the amount of high density reishi they have been pumping into it. They would have acted as balancing forces to bring equilibrium, but with their spiritual pressures being sealed away the higher pressure in Hell is allowing portals to open from Hell's side, which is spilling over into the world of the living and the Soul Society.

Considering their explanation that beings with "captain level" reii density necessitated having them sent to Hell when they die, they must have had to perform similar rituals to remove the lingering reshi of the dead Espada and Sterritter as well, and yes, also Captain level Lieutenants like Sasakibe. Otherwise that creates a bit of a gap in the explanation, as to why such a ritual is really necessary in the first place; unless it's all just a scam to dispose of powerful Shinigami whose lingering presence could theoretically effect the "balance" of souls.

And the more that is revealed about it, makes me really think that the "balance" as orchestrated by the nobles of Soul Society really is a scam. They, who live like kings in the Soul Society, who allow the vast majority of the dead to live in abject poverty, who can only obtain a tolerable standard of living by serving them as members of the Gotei 13. And even then, after a life of service if they became exceptionally powerful, their reward is damnation in Hell?
It seems to me they are the only ones who really benefit from the cycle of life and death. They don't really care about human souls, as they actively enable the disparity between the quality of life in Rukongai in contrast to the Seireitei. So in turn, they must only hunt Hollows due to their fears that they would eventually rival Shinigami in power, and threaten their status-quo.

The requirements for being Rei level 3 and above is being a shinigami woth same reiatsu level as a captain. So basically anyone who has a bankai is basically under the level 3 and above category.
Ichigo, renji, etc. and anyone captain level arr qualified for this. But yeah they probably don't perform the ritual if they are not titled as a captain

Also The badge acted as Ukitake's shrine and Ichigo and the athers killing the hollow ghoul's in front of the badge/shrine completes the ritual.

And Kubo said in the artbooks that Sena's design is basically Ichika's design with different color pallete.
