For those who don't understand why the decimal point "walks", it is just a way of saying the number with the decimal point should be multiplied by 100 ;)
If you have a decimal value of, say, 0.87, rather than figuring out where to place the point, just multiply it by 100. This means 0.87 increased by 100 times, so you can make it incrementally to see the point moving, multiplying the number by 10, which will make it bigger than 1. Then multiply the result again by 10.
Like 0.87 x 10 = 8.7
then 8.7 x 10 = 87 (which would represent an 87% increase, in the context of this video).
This may sound useless for people who can easily visualize that point moving around for whatever reason, but I'm not one of those people, so I like to understand what is pushing the point left or right ;)

After 40 yrs of not thinking about this particular type of calculating, but still wondering which words to use to get the right video to pop up, I've finally first, taken a moment to get a refresher, and second, was pointed to your video. Thank you for a simple and clean explanation and refresher! Also! Very cool to watch you "seemingly" writing backwards. 🙂

I am being driven insane by a maths issue. Wondering if anyone can help?
So what is 90,000 as a percentage of 65,000,000. I keep getting 0.0013 then times 100 makes 13 percent. The thing is I know 90,000 is not 13 percent of 65,000,000. I am pickled.
Also if I look at 1 percent of 65,000,000 this is 650,000, so 13 percent would be 13 X 650,000 which would be higher than my original number at 90,000. What am I doing wrong?

If you have 2 people doing different job level X getting pay $20/hr and Y getting pay $25/hr, in 2022 they both get a 5% raise and in 2023 they both get a $5/hr raise. At the end of 2023 who would make more money and why?
