You don't listen to this song---you live it. An emotional journey, so to speak. Altho the lyrics do not support it much----this is a going-into-battle song.

I have rocked to this song since '78, when I was 1st intro'd to hard rock, I immediately graduated from teeny-bopper, and dove head first to Ted Nugent, "stranglehold", classic Joe Walsh, "Rocky Mountain Way", classic Rush, old Black Sabbath!! Not busting on Ted, but I miss the old Pink Floyd "Meddle" I owned on an 8-track, my only 8-Track. Used my older sisters machine, I'd come home buzzed as hell on the good stuff, hop up in bed, loved to pop an ear bud (back then, it was a single earbud!), pass out to Pink Floyd, Meddle, I miss playing thru that 8 track and it'd start all over again, never had to get up, it just kept playing, over and over. Miss the good stuff, Columbian or Alcopulco gold, etc And when a nickle bag was $5, (or one finger thick and high in the "sandwich" bag, a dime bag was $10, (2 fingers thick and as high in the "sandwich" bag and my first (and only) ounce I ever bought of Columbian was $32. Took me almost 2 months to get thru that ounce, and I was sharing it!! 😂😂😂 Them were the frickin dayz!! My kid is 28, I turned her on to Ted when she was 14. Wanted to know mom's top 5 fav songs, Ted was #2 on Mom's top 5 billboard chart!!
Just played this on the way home from work today at full blast! Screw em!! Its about 32 miles (which works out to be almost an hour commute) to get home in shitty-city traffic. I would just slide the bar back to the beginning and I played it through 6 or 7 times, maybe 8, (I lost count) with all my windows down, the temp hovering in the 70's, not a cloud in the sky, on a Friday evening in mid Sept. What I wouldn't do for some good Pacahlolo from Hawaii!!

Now you get these "gram" frickin diddly-squat teeny weeny bags, $20, for what? Its been a few yrs, they're probably $30-$40 for a gram! Give me an ounce of good Columbian any day over a gram of purple haze! Glad that folks can grow their own, but they've turned it into something that's not so fun anymore. If you buy it off the street, Now you have to worry if someone slipped some literal 😢killer shit in with your dope. It wasn't always better when it was illegal, there's no sneaking around, the thrill of getting buzzed or getting caught! Now its a lazy mans buzz and I just heard that f**king China is now the USA's biggest importer of MaryJane. I dont want jack shit from China. They can keep all their crap. F-China!! Give me good ole American Rock and Roll, like Ted Nugent, and an great doobie that's worth smoking! I don't think we should have to worry if the Enemy (China and the Mexican Cartel) are going to lace their shit with Fentynol and try to sell it to unsuspecting Americans. WTF!
Ooops, I'll get Off my soap box,😫🤮
✌️Peace Out!
🤙Shaka Brah!! 🌋🏝🏄‍♀️
🪨 on America!! 🎸🇺🇸

Ted Nugent is a great musician he is a rockstar. And plus he defends the Second Amendment. He is truly his own person one-of-a-kind. Play it Loud Ted Rock on! You should be in the Rockstar Hall of Fame.

Still kickin myself for not seeing him in Springfield Mass. in 1976 in high school, two towns over. Live version of Stranglehold was recorded there for Double Live Gonzo. People don't know how spoiled we were for concerts even in medium sized cities. Unless it was the Stones, Zep, or Floyd, they came close to you.

The musical genius is undeniable. The lyrics are.... unfortunate. My dad used to play this song all the time growing up. Our trailer had a mattress on the floor, a computer on the floor, a badass stereo system, bologna in the fridge, and nothing else. Music was the entertainment. I still love the acoustics of a single wide and the guitar radiating outside. That's my memory of this song. But fuck man.

Can you make a new album of songs with gorgeous music, but lyrics that aren't about.... You know.
