50k for a brand new guitar is stupid as f. Between Mark Greasy's lawsuit threats and their blatant willingness to RIP OFF their customers, I don't have much use for Gibson. I've had LPs over my 35+ years of playing, but I won't be giving them any money in the future.

I'd never buy a guitar for more than $2k-$3k unless it was gonna be completely custom made. I find it hard to justify even those prices, but $50k? Craziest part is the people that actually get to buy these guitars are more than likely just super fans of the bands and can't play guitar to save their lives. And for the maybe one real guitarist that does get to buy that thing, what do you do with it? Just frame it? I wouldn't even feel comfortable holding something like that if it was my own property let alone play it. Never been a fan of the artificial aging either I don't see how something like that could add value whatsoever. It ALWAYS looks tacky and artificial compared to the real thing. Plus the real version played by your favorite guitarist did it the old fashion way by just playing and didn't pay the artificial aging tax.

I've been a Gibson player all my life, Now I only play Schecter neck through guitars.

I will never understand the grossly over priced guitars from Gibson. If someone wants to spend that kind of money, so be it. But it is pretty disgusting considering all of the great guitars for a small fraction of the price now a days (especially with Gibson's QC atrocities). Gibson guitars are like $4000+ tube amps, they just aren't' worth the money with todays market and technology. I'd say they did you a favor.

This is the model of the luxury goods industry: "Why should we give our dealers any of the profit on a hugely marked up limited edition piece?" They spend half the dealer discount on some kind of dog and pony show for people that can afford the product (also developing potential buyers lists for the next limited edition) . Other brands simply cap the amount dealers can sell them on threat of losing their AD status, in some cases keeping the margin of say, a 500K piece the same as a non limited 50K piece. But...as Trogly holding one shows, this system is not perfect and aftermarket sellers get them (usually from people who don't really want the piece but know they can get more than they paid in trade for they do want) and sell them at huge markups, since they know that anyone who can drop 50K on a 5k guitar wont go broke buying one for 125K if they really want it.
