It's great having a spare parts Honda I found.
ОтветитьWell explained & videoed, thank you young man. Hope all is well is the last 2 yrs.
ОтветитьYour general non model specific video is fairly useless, air hammering the flange screws is a good idea with a wheel bearing involved? Lol....drilling the the screws is the only way that doesn't impact ball and race in the bearing.
ОтветитьYes a proper disassemble
ОтветитьI akso use a copper anti-seize on the rotor screws to be nice to my future self so the next repair goes easier. To remove the screws on a car I haven't previously worked on I use an impact driver sold at part stores for $10-ish USD. I keep forgetting I have the tool so I own 3 now 😆
ОтветитьI really dislike drum brakes.
ОтветитьErik, do you think, with your experience, that the parking brake, perhaps being a bit too tight, could be the cause of the drum on that rotor getting searing hot when driving? When I say searing hot, I do mean, so hot that when you throw water onto it, it instantly sizzles and throws major steam.
I'm trying to decide if THAT is more the cause or perhaps the bearing assembly.
I'm leaning towards the E brakes, because the drum is what gets hot. Not the calipers nor the center part.
I used our thermal camera to see where the major heat was and the drum glowed like we were landing on the sun. LOL
I won't know for sure until tomorrow. I have the car up on the jack and supports right now with the tire off, but not taken apart as yet.
But videos like yours give me ideas of what to look for. If I find that the E brake pads are not thick, then this could be the problem.... I suspect.
Ideas?
Excellent video well explained
ОтветитьWhoa! Love the beard mate! Also, great video as always.
ОтветитьI've looked through so many videos about doing this job and they are all pretty much the same. Although there were a couple of things I'll do differently to your suggestions, you covered some very important points which I was looking for information on but couldn't find anything.
Great video and I'm impressed that you don't just do the same as everyone else and assume that everything will go to plan.
Keep up with these types of reviews.
Cheers from the UK!
I see how hard you take thisjob it sound easy but is not belive me
ОтветитьTremendous patience and attention to detail. Well done.
ОтветитьI don’t understand how e brake pads can get so worn ? They are only in contact with the drums when the e brake handle is actuated and that’s only when the vehicle is not moving ?
ОтветитьExcellent video, saved me lots of time.
ОтветитьNot me sttrugling to replace these at school only to not finnish and watch a video on how to do it only to have to retry on friday...
ОтветитьVery helpful video!
ОтветитьVery detailed and informative bro. Not much different then a regular drum brake job. Thank You Much
ОтветитьThank you, Eric, for posting, as I was at odds on how to do this until I found your video, as you do all the hard first work for us to make the job that much easier.
ОтветитьHere because I was doing rear brakes and could not get the rotor off. The parking brake shoes material was falling apart and would not adjust to freel. Wait two days for more parts!
ОтветитьGreat video. Very helpful for the rear brakes in my saab 9-5 aero estate
ОтветитьAbsolutely brilliant video Thank you!
ОтветитьWas good information
Ответитьthanks for your detailed step by step, but I believe that you only installed the upper springs--two on each side--but you said there are three on each side, so I'm assuming the missing springs were to go on the bottom?
ОтветитьI hate shoes so much. Ty for video.
ОтветитьIs there a leading/ trailing parking brake shoe on any make/ model as far as anyone knows? Seems like every time I change these I can't adjust them right. They either drag or don't grab at all.
ОтветитьI am having a nightmare getting the cable spring back on the brake shoe it’s a Honda crv Mk2 the struggle continues.
ОтветитьI have been told by mechanics the wavy washer goes between the lever and the brake shoe.
ОтветитьIn which direction is tightening the parking brake, up or down?
ОтветитьI might have chosen to take some material of off the drum instead of the brake shoes. Great video. Thanks
ОтветитьI have fixed my 2016 crv rear brakes and for some reason they have gape in between brakes corners everything seems to right I have check the other side which looks the same and all the peices. Now brakes are hitting rotor and I'm not able to put rotor back on what could be the issue?
ОтветитьI unnecessarily removed the parking brake hardware to change out the hub and bearing on my 2001 MDX. Your video is not quite the same but it certainly helped in reassembly. The "before" photo I took did not adequately show placement of the parts. Thanks.
ОтветитьExcellent video I just tackled these in my garage after I was done I could not get the rotors over the shoes. I figured it was the aftermarket brake shoes that I got from 1A Auto but it was the fact that I was trying to use the OEM adjuster when i ended up having to use the aftermarket adjuster. The aftermarket adjuster let the shoes close enough to put the rotors on and adjust. Perhaps this was part of your issue as well? Thanks again!
ОтветитьThanks for the great video!
ОтветитьBuy new rotor
Ответитьyea that definitely reinforced my thought that i wont be messing with the parking brake shoes.
ОтветитьFinally after one year I can finish my daily driver job no one has this detailed of a video for emergency brake shoes 🫡
Ответитьhow can you replace the upper guy that you hook the springs to on my honda acura tsx the part has rusted away and got damage from the shos falling a part and welded it stuck to the rotor and if i can replace it can you make a video how it is done
ОтветитьCHEVY IMPALA2009, in the Haynes guide for Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo, shows that you have to disassembly the hub. But the tool you need is a press, that's the missing detail. I spent hours doing that just to find out too late.
ОтветитьWhat a FANTASTIC video!! I feel confident I can manage this now…especially after all the pitfalls you’ve described and resolved.
Can you apply this same format into a video about raising children? Thanks
Super video, thank you very much. I feel confident to be able to do the work. Again, great job!
ОтветитьThanks for the video! Very informative!
Ответитьthat was really good
ОтветитьLove it but holding a cable with side cutters is not what I would do. Thanks for the vid!
ОтветитьOutstanding video!!
ОтветитьReally easy to understand
ОтветитьThanks man
ОтветитьExcellent
