ОтветитьThat is one unhappy daughter.
ОтветитьI prefer fair skin to a tan any day. I hate the pantaloons though.
Ответитьwomen used to be so femenine back in days. today they dress like a men
ОтветитьКакие красивые платья длинные спасибо большое за показ видео
ОтветитьI would dress like this everyday
Ответитьwhat might have been an interesting presentation was made bland by the woman speaking
ОтветитьI swear I love the 1850s and 60s it's just so sad it's not safe at all for me
Ответитьwhere did you get the yellow and blue one?
Ответитьuhhh really a dress
Ответитьwas this filmed in 1860s ?
ОтветитьLady I love the way you talk it’s just so cute ❤️🌸 beautiful dresses. I too wish women still dressed like this. It’s so graceful and classic.
ОтветитьThere seemed to be many more restrictions on what you could or couldn't do than there were in Europe, not letting your hair show is one and changing into ball gowns at three in the afternoon is another. Balls didn't start til around ten at night so you spend seven hours sitting around doing nothing, even dinner wasn't til eight at night. Nice dresses but the collars look slightly off as well. If you want to make something similar the top us basically a shirt dress with buttons up the front and the skirt is gathered or pleated into the waist. I make most of my dresses this way, usually using snaps/press studs or books and eyes to fasten the fronts because I hate doing button holes. Can be worn with or without the hooped petticoats depending on your lifestyle. Don't forget the skirt side seams often had a slit to allow access to the pockets worn underneath the petticoat. I do wear a sleeveless tabard or scapula over the top instead of a pinny or apron, I just find it more practical and wearing different ones totally changes the look of the outfit for the day. Have housework ones and shopping ones and dressy ones.
ОтветитьThe dresses are so pretty
ОтветитьThe bodices are poorly constructed and notably too loose, to top it off the hoop skirt worn under the red dress not only kept getting caught but also created an entirely inaccurate and floppy figure. All of these are mistakes that are easy to fix, even for a beginner.
ОтветитьLmaoo yo these ppl were filthy. Beautiful attire rarely washed
ОтветитьMaking my dress for the 154yr reenactment of the battle of Gettysburg
ОтветитьIt's so hard to understand her and she says uh a lot.
ОтветитьThanks so much, this really helped me make my project on the 1860s way better!
Ответить
I had to put on captions to understand you. The captions couldn't understand you. The dress is very lovely.
Ответитьthanks for the information
Ответитьthey look so comfortable on
Ответитьi love those dresses
ОтветитьI think i should
ОтветитьI would love to dress like this when I'm older
Ответитьwhere are you and do you have a catalog?
Ответитьneedless is to loose women never wore dresses that loose even when poor
ОтветитьIf love to be in a Reenacting group so I could wear these dresses all the time. I have always dreamed of being one of those elegant southern belles during the 1860's with a ball gown.
Ответитьsup girl
Ответитьhi
ОтветитьA lot of the accessories seen here are very inaccurate; corsets would always be worn, dresses always came down to the wrist, bangs would not have been worn except by young girls, the hoop earrings are incorrect... In general, this is not a good resource for those new to reenacting.
Ответитьman these are more gorgeous than the dresses that cover absolutely nothing today, all my life I've loved these dresses so much
ОтветитьYou have a great southern accent, so charming. Love the dresses too!
Ответитьi wish we still dressed like this
Ответитьbeautiful dresses. I love hoopskirts and that period.
ОтветитьDo you wear corsets? Or no? Just curious.
ОтветитьThe draw string type purse is not exactly period.. was atopped abt the 1830-1840 so why are the re enactors still using them...
ОтветитьIf that accent isn't the best :-)
ОтветитьI'm in my sixth decade, from the USA but long in Europe. I still wear fairly old-fashioned clothing and undergarments. It's actually cheaper and more practical and it's easy to alter things for the figure, for work, for home life, for activities. Learning to make lace is tatting, and I learned it from my father in Ohio. I can only do simple trims, but they are practical to ease fraying and to cover damage. Frequently, only one bolt of fabric for females and one for males could be bought per family per year. One of my ancestors had a schism with her family over a fabric dispute. She was skinny, they were fat. They all worked there to produce incomes but "Aunt Can" felt she should pay less because she needed so little fabric each year. They refused and off she went, never to reconcile with them. Everyone tatted (usually females) and this was the gift you'd give when you went to visit. I still do that for all my bed linens, handkerchiefs, gifts and even my daily clothing. Good video, thank you! Uprated.
ОтветитьI just love the Southern accent.
ОтветитьI reenact the 1830s it is a lot of fun learning how women wore things back in the day; very formal and HOT in the summer! Thanks for the video I enjoyed watching! (:
ОтветитьOh DARLING, being a 10th grader must seem like a cakewalk compared to being a freshman. The school mapping is a maze as you crush your schedule in your hand, trying to get to class on time on your first week of school. All the seniours hate you and talk smack about you, like two seniour girls did in an after-school club I was in. One time in my school's Pep Rally, everyone was cheering for the seniours, juniours and sophomores. But when it got to us, everyone booed. It sucks.
ОтветитьBaby, ALL skin colours are beautiful. From the palest, fairest skin to the blackest, bluest skin, it's all gorgeous. No mattre what people might think.
Ответитьwho cares if they laugh?? Just rock it!
Ответитьwow well done!
ОтветитьThere pretty dresses
Ответитьour daughters have LOVED how they are treated with respect by the men in the units. I have never had to worry about their well being or safety while in camp. the Men also enjoy the respect & attention of the ladies :) -- it can be a win win & most enjoyable family hobby - i highly recommend it.
Ответитьlook into your local reenacting - its a FAMILY thing and a wonderful hobby - you would get to dress like this all you want :) --possibly INCLUDING school for things like history demonstrations/ book reports/ even halloween (you can 'introduce' your friends to your new hobby :)
