Great video. However wouldn't you have been better off comparing the imac pro with a fully maxed out 24 M1 Imac with 16gb ram and 1tb SSD?

That’s like thinking that you have to buy a bmw 5 series to do 100 miles a day for work, only realizing a few months later that the same job you could have done with a cheaper Nissan Altima, and be surprised that you’ve made it without major problems. Content creators nowadays should really think twice before buying an expensive professional product.

Don't worry Luke. Apple will make a super "Hoggy" OS in a few years, which will be mandated to run anything. Then Your M1 chip will run like the old intel i-macs. They are in the business of selling silicon. I have two 4570R late2013 Imacs, super mint bought it from school. with geek-bench 6 it is equivalent to an Bionic A13 chip. However Ventura & Monterey taxes the chip. Who knows how many wrenches are put into these new OS's making them super Hogs. I really like your channel, I like how you think. Cheers.

I’ve been thinking about video editing coming from an old 2014 MacBook Pro and was looking at either 14 or 16 M1 laptops, would I be better off with I-Mac 24 and just up the gpu to say 16, 10 cores and say 1TB storage as seams a better deal ??😊

what do you do if you have non-thunderbolt external drives? I have some with Firewire, some with eSATA, and some with USB 3.1. I am currently on a 5,1 Mac Pro and DO need to get to a more recent OS than Mojave.

I always tell everyone looking for a Mac, DO NOT pay more than $700 for ANY used Intel Mac including the iMac Pro. Apple Silicon’s value is too good to pass up for nostalgia or dubious reasons. Both the maxed out 5,1 and 6,1 lose to the M1 in many areas making A LOT of Intel Macs poor value for the money. Why pay $3000 for an iMac Pro when the base model Studio smokes it for relatively the same price? On top of that, do you really NEED either the iMac Pro or Mac Studio.

Hopefully as time moves on, more and more used macs tank in value.

The everyday performance of the M1 iMac is impressive. What's not impressive is that Apple has gotten away with this ridiculous "function follows form" design with a poor placement of ports on the back of the iMacs for years. It really sucks when you try to hook stuff up in a cramped "nook" type of desk and you can't even see the ports behind the monitor. And it's pathetic that they think 2 ports is enough! Just put an SD slot, and like 4-6 USB-C thunderbolt ports on the front, and some HDMI, display port, ethernet, and USB ports on the back. Everyone will think you're geniuses Apple, for just making a common sense computer design.

I'm a bit bias just because my main machine is still a 2010 Mac Pro with high specs 😃

That's "paper" life vs real life. They don't always align. Real life is a much better example, for obvious reasons--its reality. I'm glad the little iMac held its own.

THat audio issue is also happening in the Intel mac when using Premiere Pro

I am a graphic designer basically work on wedding albums and photo retouching sort of things.....I am basically a windows user.... Is it better or not to switch to i mac or build a pc for this price.... Totally confused can you help me on this

I have a 2019 27' iMac with intel i9 and 64GB ram but since I got the Blackmagic 6k camera, premier or DaVinci can't handle editing scrubbing for more than a few min and rendering out only works on short 5min chunks before the iMac looses power and shuts off. No other applications running and no other programs cause this issue.

I'm using a 2015 iMac 27" and I have two open slots for 4 GB of memory, bringing it to 16 GB. do you think it would be worth it to buy more?
