IMO, most associated with "the news" no longer has actual journalists involved at least by the definition I grew up with [Walter Cronkite et al, i.e. actual facts, truth, verification, & substance -- not primarily fluff & soundbites]. What's so sad is that news & society reflect each other, & that's scary!

Ohh God this Big Nose Lady speaks again clever smart and extremely annoying anything from her. She should go and look, live on the streets and get some reality in-between of her wish for being important and famous. Ohh God America! Where have you gone?

It's very interesting for me to be watching this today.

Recently - given that we've embarked on our final year of university - my friends and I are have been asking the question "what is the point of our education?". Knowing more is awesome and quite literally changes our lives ... but as humanities or social sciences (theatre and performance, anthropology, film and media, sociology, politics, philosophy, etc.) students we have hopes of doing more than just bettering ourselves. We want to change lives that are beyond our own! And this video is a very powerful reminder that we must continue asking "what change can we spark with our work?" - and then spark it.

Lastly, to ask the age old question: can we be academics and activists? Well... we won't find out until we try.
