Whats your favorite 550 Color? Desert Sun Yellow , Road Flare Red, or Purple Neon?

I'd love to hear your opinions on some of the J-Custom's, more specifically the older J-Customs from 1997-2001 that had the "Ultra" necks, which were thicker and very comfy. I've never been an RG5XX series guy, too much leaning towards a strat, but the J-Custom stuff is great, if you can find some of the older ones, with the thicker necks, or a recent Sugi-built Ibanez J-Custom.

Man... Ibanez is one of the best guitars you can buy......you're doing something majorly wrong bud. The RG is one of the best under 500 bucks. It's one of my favs at any price point. Their necks are awesome.

I've never been an Ibanez fan and I only have the rg550 genesis in road flare red. It's a great guitar though. Nothing on it feels cheap or low end, it feels like a high end guitar and the stock pickups sound good enough that I wouldn't be in a rush to change them.

I hear that it is not a good idea to leave a tuner on a new Gibson Les Paul because it will wreck the paint on the headstock. $3000+ guitar and the paint is that cheap. Unbelievable.

I could name a dozen things right away why the RG is special and why I love it and play this model exclusively.
But the only thing I need to say is that I was at a large music store recently and on a rummage for gear and just for fun checked out all sorts of guitars. They all felt horrific to play. Why are you guys doing this to yourselves?
I was so happy to be back with my RGs.
(please dont tell me it's all relative. RGs playability is unrivaled, no discussion)

I'm trying to learn to play, my dad got a Ibanez from his boss. I have no clue how to play, I'm not looking for the perfect sound to mimic but I cant find that aggressive tone. I understand Ibanez isn't a beginner guitar but its what we have. I'm figuring out cords but its hard to get into that flow to even play smoke on the water, cause from my amateur opinion it sounds like a acoustic. Maybe its just the amp I have but I also see others playing Ibanez and none have that aggressive sort of sound that sounds what I'm looking for. Any suggestions or videos I can check out?

My favorite production guitar (I own) is a 5170 prestige with Dimarzio evo 2's. Then I decided it wasn't perfect and started building custom neck through's with exotic wood. I suggest that route for anyone with a garage. Mass producers really cheap out and it's not that hard if you commit.

Im like that with PRS guitars. Don’t know why I don’t like them. The ones I’ve tried were fine, just wasn’t excited about them. Strange.

My RG 550 is from 1990 and after 33 years it works like the first day. Floyd is amazing and keeps the tune perfectly. The only thing I modded were the magnets (I installed new dimarzios).
All in all, a fantastic guitar.

Although they make really solid basses, I've never owned an Ibanez and never found one that I liked and I've never really found one that has a really notable tone. Well made all-around but just not very distinct..

Bought an Ibanez Moderne/Futura new in 76 pumped gas and mowed grass 420 for that guitar i thought it was a spanish brand name, what did i know i was a kid, had to save up and buy the case a month later. Couple of years later I got an Ibanez Les Paul black custom, next an Ibanez cherry burst lp custom bought and sold many guitars then i got an Ibanez Iceman in the 90s with edge locking trem plays. awesome.Never really had an interest in any other Ibanez after, till i bought a Gio at a yardsale for $30.00 that pos plays fn awesome great neck.

Pretty sure that Tokai sparked the lawsuit debate, only because they were making better Stats and Teles than Fender was at the time

Ibanez SA and RC ranges FAR exceed the famed RG/Jem and S series in my experienced (owned all of them) opinion. None of them are Floyd rose guitars but they all feel much more like guitars, RGs and S series always feel and sound like something alternative to a guitar to me, try out an SA or RoadCore if you get the chance, fantastic guitars.

Well, the reissue (Genesis series) is made in Japan in Fujigen Gakki… So there is nothing Indonesian… I have this guitar and it is the best thing I have ever played on (I am lefty so there are not so many options) even compared to Gibsons and Fenders from much more expensive series!

I think a vast majority of the people that love the RG are the people that like a nice flat fingerboard. 99% of them have either a 15.7 or 16.9 radius depending on the exact model and neck that it has which is significantly more flat than most other guitars on the market. Most of them have a compound radius starting at 12 inches and will get more flat up by the higher frets but Ibanez uses a straight 15.7/16.9 inch radius which makes the neck feel much different. I happen to love it but I know lots of people that hate it. I like my actions super super low and it's real easy to get it low with a flat fingerboard and still not have any buzzing. Otherwise, it just feels like another Stratocaster shaped object to me.

I picked up a case queen 1990 RG770, Laser Blue with a rosewood board and shark tooth inlays a few years ago. The exact same one Navarro is playing in the “Stop” video. Only play it once in awhile, hoping it’ll be worth something someday. Also hoping my son won’t sell it (he doesn’t play) for way less than it’s worth once I’m gone, lol!

My first guitar was the cheapest Ibanez you could get - the EX140, made in Korea, it has the headstock, but "Ibanez" is written really small, and "EX" really big. When I got it I just wanted an actual brand, not some cheap copy. Anyway, that was something like 30 years ago and I still have it and still play it - though I did make some upgrades a few years ago. It's always been a solid, great sounding guitar - I used to bash it off cymbals, the floor, everything. Given how good that one was/is, I wouldn't hesitate to get another Ibanez.

I have an Ibanez Rocket Roll II (Flying V style) with a Kahler Tremolo, and that guitar has one of the slickest necks I have ever played. I have messed around with other Ibanez guitars with different profiles and I haven't come across one that I didn't like yet, even though there are some differences. Their neck finishes are some of the best in the business in my opinion. I usually prefer more simple guitars, the less knobs and dials the better, lol. I am wanting to pick up one of their S series guitars, they look great, and are super-versatile.

I've never played a high end Ibanez so I can't really speak to the quality of those, but as far as cheap beginner guitars go they have some really good options. My first guitar was an Ibanez. I can't remember which one exactly it was like grx and some numbers or something. It lasted through 2 years of constant playing and didn't sound at all bad for the price.
