You don't even really have touring and merchandise for revenue streams. With what is called a "360 deal," whomever owns the publishing company is getting a cut of the live performance. In addition, they would also get a cut of your merchandise, as the artist generally isn't running their own company to produce merchandise. Instead, they'll license and outsource it to another company. In addition, though, the record company is also getting a cut of the merch, licensing of songs to movies, games, etc, live performances, everything. Just remember, if you can create the perception that you are more powerful than the law - you can always find hitmen willing to do your bidding. The only thing that most humans perceive to be of true value is money. The only thing that stops them from doing horrible things for money...is consequences.
If you groom a public to perceive that wealthy and famous people can get away with serious crimes - you will find people lining-up to be employed by them. And, from that, you will have grouos of like-minded individuals, seeking to gain wealth with no consequences, as "bad guys".
The psychology of our human mind measures all things according to the degree of desire, versus degree of consequences. Laws and rules are gates. They only let those willing to test boundaries thru - so those who get thru, prove they're worthy of their gains, by avoiding or escaping consequences.
These people have learned that nothing matters except power and therefore it is only wise to remove any consequences that get in their way. They just need the public to get used to it first, until they start saying, "That's just the way it is."
A well-groomed public will laugh and roll it's eyes at the mere thought of doing anything to stop a corrupt practice. They can be made into the wardens of their own prisons far too easily. Knowing this drives corruption, as people decide it is better to have power over irrational minds, than to operate within ethical boundaries and be a potential victim of the manipulated and exploited ignorance of too many people.
We MUST find the PROPER consequences for people who engage in corruption and criminal behavior. But those in power know this...which is why consequences have been removed in nearly every aspect of society.
Too many humans will push and argue, libel and slander, torture, abuse neglect and kill for money...if the reward is big enough and there is little to fear in consequence.
