You can also easily setup an OpenVPN connection using the Network Manager in Ubuntu. If you have the network-manager-openvpn-gnome installed, after clicking add VPN in Network Manager the last option will be: "Import a saved VPN configuration...". Select your .opvn file and you should setup. Now you can use Network Manager to connect and disconnect the VPN.

can i use openvpn for free i know its open src but are the servers free to use ?

OK, so this secures from coffee shop shenanigans, but other types of protection is limited, correct? For example, suppose a journalist living under a dictatorship uses this method, the govt surveillance could still see where traffic is going from the VPN server, and see that only one person is using it, correct? ...maybe even confiscate the server, and grab the logs?

had lost connection with hak5, busy life.. anyway, yt recommended a hak5 video and was glad the algorithm worked for once. of course i recently searched for openvpn and i use linux "and pfsense", so this video was recommended how apropos. awesome. maybe some pfsense stuff later...

Use sudo -i. That way you don't have to type sudo every time. :)

is the only difference between this version and the more command line intensive version the amount of clients you can have on it. i thought i heard you say this one is free for up to 2 users or devices?

cant get "initialization sequence complete" when i run the client config comand. it just runs "server poll timeout"
