What are gearmotors?

A gearmotor is a single component that integrates a gear reducer with either an ac or dc electric motor. The inherent benefit of the gear train is that it functions as a torque multiplier and speed reducer, requiring less motor power to drive a given load. Housing design, gearing type, gear lubrication, and the specific mode of integration all affect the gearmotor performance.
