And what’s wrong with the renegade? More reliable and handles better than a Kia.

The Taos has wound up on Consumer Report's worst SUV list. It has had multiple NHTSA recalls and owner complaints. Please tell us if and how much VW is paying you to ignore the facts and tell us it's so great.

I wouldn’t overlook the Trailblazer. Looks good, spacious and good value. Definitely less bland than most of the others.

2021 Seltos owner (picked up in Nov 20)...SX with the turbo and DCT. 43k miles, no repair work at all. Even same tires! Great little car. Highway trips at 80mpg, frequent city driving (DC, Balt, Philly), hilly back country roads - easily handles all. NO CVT. Tried the Crosstrek back then, that busy interior, uncomfy seating (I'm 6ft 1 and 230lbs), and the dead dead dead steering turned me away. I know many don't like the DCT. I love it as it reminds me of my manual driving days a little. It eventually adapts to your driving style, but I get why some don't like it. Neighbor's Taos ('23...) has been sent back to the shop 3X in 8 months. NOPE. It's the same old VW problems. Just wanted to give a longer term report on the Seltos. (edit: the '24s no longer have the DCT...)

My husband had the Crosstrek. The only feature I liked was it made it over the Sierras during the Winter. I didn’t like anything else about it.

Good review, looking to buy a 2024 subcompact for our son, the Crosstrek Sport is currently what’s at the top of our list along with maybe the Mazda CX-30. In the 2024 model year, Subaru has phased out the manual transmission on all Crosstreks.

I bought a 2021 Subaru CrossTrek Outdoor; very happy with it except for the cost of regular maintenance (every 6000 miles or 6 months irrespective of mileage); for my first 2 years I've being doing less than 6000 miles every 6 months. I traded in a 2016 Toyota AWD Rav4. Earlier this year my wife wanted a new car and we were leaning towards a 2023 AWD Toyota Cross (we were trading in a 2015 Corolla sedan), Mazda CX-30, or Nissan Qashqai. We ended up with the Nissan AWD Qashqai; she didn't like the ride of the Corolla Cross (and it would have taken over 12 months to get one!) or the Mazda CX-30 (she found the ride harsh).

VW Taos (#4) is also ending up on other lists. That of LEAST RELIABLE. VW builds appealing vehicles that fall on their face when it comes to reliability.

In Europe climate change is a big issue. By 2050 and probably sooner cars that run on petrol won't be allowed anymore. So they have already made plans to make it worse to drive cars with petrol engines. Gasoline in the Netherlands costs at the moment about € 2.00 a liter (that's € 7,60 a gallon or 7,8 dollars). In the near future drivers will pay a certain price for each km they drive. Depending on the type of vehicle it will be more expensive.

One of my biggest pet pevs is the inconsistency in interest rates between auto makers. I stick to my brand because the interest rate is reasonable and I get a loyalty % rate. To charge a higher interest rate seems like an extra perk for the dealership. 😢

In my opinion I think you shortchanged the HRV, there 2.0 normal aspirated engine is almost bullet proof, much better long term reliability then the turbo Kias.
But I do understand its not that type of review.
