Thanks for being so candid. I believe your comments. I too have heard good things about this lens. I have casually thought about buying this. Thanks. For professional use, I use primarily the Olympus 12-40mm f2.8, the Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8, the Panasonic 35-100mm f2.8 and the Panasonic 42.5mm f1.7. Gerry in Calgary.

Thanks for honest thoughts.
I have had real mixed results with samyang/rokinon etc.
they can make great lenses. But feels like lucky dip wether you get a good one or a bad one. (Quality control must be asleep some of the time.)

If you get a good one, they are well worth it.
If you get a bad one send it back immediately.
:)

You should've get a canon version and mounted it on a speedbooster

You have a lemon. Sorry i have the same setup and I get great results.
That is the DS version and I have the original and get better results than that.
You can't compare the sigma and this lens. They are very different, price specifically.

Poor review, misleading.

I completely concur with this review. My Samyang/Bower 35mm Cine lens is absolutely 100% identical to his lens. Anything under f2 is horrible. Going above that and it sharpens up very fast. 2.8 up is perfectly gorgeous. The entire bottom of this lens falls out and dies below f2. It's like falling off a cliff. It just instantly goes to Hell. So yeah,...it's a great lens and I love it...but only at f2 and up.

These lenses are only really good if you buy the Nikon F version and pair it with a Speedbooster for M43. This allows you to stop the lens up a little bit, to about t2.2 or so, and still get about a T1.5 with the .71x of the Speedbooster.

This review totally answered my main concern. My wife uses canon dslr for photography and I Use lumix GH3 for video., so I didnt know if buying the MFT or canon version of this lens. Now I will go for the canon version, since MTF version is the same canon but with an adaptor. I own many ef to mtf adaptors so canon will work for both of us.. I understand and respect your opinion, Im sure there are better options but even being a cheap lens, I live in Venezuela and 500 bucks is still pretty expensive for us. We will make the sacrifice. Thanks again for your honest review. Im going to suscribe your channel.

The rokinons are amazing for full frame. They are plenty sharp for 4k when using a full frame camera with full sensor readout at around T1.5. I have the panasonic G9 and when using the Metabones .64x speedbooster it still looks incredibly tack sharp at T2 but if you get the M4/3 mount and your cropping more than half the image circle of the lens your going to really lose a lot of the point of these rokinon primes. Rokinon does now make lenses specifically designed for crop sensor mirrorless cameras.

it is so sad that Veydra did not really take off. You ever tested one of these?

To start with, to be fair, I use the ef lenses but with those ef lenses I’m blown away with how good they are. Just a thought, when you shoot 1.5 into so much light that your completely blown out you’re going to get fringing.
