EA shuts down Origin and The sims community is NOT happy

Did the CCP buy them out? that might be why we have to pay a monthly fee to enjoy games we already paid real money . I don't think so, Homey don't play that

no some classic games i had are now gone on the ea app

EA still plays sims 4 base game. but I lost strangerville. other games also were not transferred when I was told to switch to EA.

HELP!! I was not aware of this change and I just lost access to Sims 4 on Origin for Mac. How can I play Sims 4 on Mac, please help, I'm really sad I can't play :(

I have been playing Sims for a long time. Didn't have any problems, with Origin..I had saved the password..no problems..next thing I know is I need a new password for Origin and my Sims 4, which was purchased in a store from my Son..I have been playing the Sims for years! From the first game til now..then came Origin!

I can’t even open the app on EA’s program, it wont even launch and they are forcing everyone out of origin smfh. I just wanna play a game and can’t even have that without their greedy antics interfering

I just installed Battlefield 4 via Steam in my laptop, and I prepared it by logging in my secondary Origin account (primary Origin account had Sims 4 installed in the laptop), and as I hit play, it instead prompts EA App installation, and just decided to uninstall Origin without prior notification. Prior to this, I didn't even know Origin is transitioning to EA App, and this transition is in fact forced. Like damn, EA, give me the option not to uninstall Origin!

They still didn't kill origin. It's harder to download but origin is the only ea app opening since ea desktop doesn't even start

my question is what does this means for the MAC users. the EA app doesn't work for Mac

If EA made the base game free for the people who can't afford it, (I bought it) then how do they expect us or them to pay each month for the EA app??

i’m so concerned about just…EVERYTHING honestly. i play with a heavily modded/cc-filled game and i’ll be so heartbroken if anything gets corrupted and/or missing from my game. i’ve heard little to no information on mod transfer and if there’s a safe way to ensure everything transfers safely, if it even will. i, unfortunately, don’t have an external hard drive to keep copies on, so i’ve always made copies on my desktop every 2-3 weeks, which i’ve seen people do and it’s always worked fine as an alternative. i wish i had the extra safety of an external hard drive earlier, but i’ll get one at some point, i hope. i’ve also heard of people’s tray and save files or their DLC not transferring which i’ll cry if that happens to me, so that’s another HUGE concern of mine. i just really hope, when i am forced to get the EA app, i’ll at least not lose anything and can actually play the game the same as i would in Origin.

i got 2 packs for the sims on my xbox, i thought i would be able to keep it on my pc but no. i tried getting a sim i made from my gallery that used 2 packs and it removed everything from those packs meaning if i wanted then i’d have to buy them again on pc even tho on xbox all my things saved on pc were there 😒

The damn EA app sucks so much...I'm not even able to log in now and everytime I try it just tells me I can't log in because of a problem with my account. I never had problems like this with origin and I truly miss it. I'm just disappointed because I know the EA app is still in beta but like come on.

i hate this change so much, not just because this is an unnecessary move on EA's part, but because it hurts ALL of the sims players. I can no-longer play the sims with the ass-loads of bonus content they put up on the sims 3 store. there is no longer a way to buy sims points unless you buy a specific world.

I had origin like a year ago and that’s how I played my sims then I stopped playing I deleted my old email connected to it so I had to make a new one and then it never let me back in at all I tried everything so this year I got EA and in my opinion EA is so much better

Since being forced to use the EA app to launch the sims 4, I've had nothing but problems trying to play the game.

I didn’t want to switch until I had to and I finally did yesterday. I couldn’t be more angry with EA then I am right now! I had a bunch of extra content and when I swapped and opened the game all my mods and cc transferred over but none of my dlc packs did and came up that they were all unowned!!

I went onto the origin app and it literally won’t let me use unless I download ea which will get rid of origin and ea is just worse in like every way 😫

I'm so cheesed off I have to get a stupid, friggin' app to do exactly what I have already. I don't want to uninstall Origin on my computer. I'm done.

Its December 8th i wanted to play sims no i have had to delete a load of stuff that i dont know if its safe to uninstall to get storage to be able to even have the base game and thats not enough so im just wating for the stuff to get deleted and if this isnt enough to get my packs in the game and my game back im gonna cry tbh
edit it didnt work so i just unstalled the whole sims 4 thanks ea

I am being forced to switch to EA and EA is $15 dollars a month or $99 for the year. I feel obligated to pay because I already spent so much on the sims.

I can’t even download my own expansion packs from origin app for some reason, I had to reset my pc and now I can’t even play my game… does anyone have any info. EA app wont let me move my game into the file im choosing to download it too as well so I can’t even play 😭😭

The EA app forcibly made me download the legacy edition for TS4 and deleted all my saves. And in order to delete the legacy edition I have to download origin which doesn’t exist anymore. 🙃

it just cuased my sims shortcut to get deleted and now that I'm in ea it won't work. so annoying I was literally playing it yesterday

My favorite thing about them shutting down Origin in favour of their just-as-buggy-if-not-worse EA launcher, is the fact that apparently all Sims 3 players have lost access to their expansion packs and add-ons (me included) since September 2022. The DLC cannot be downloaded, and aside from a couple random community devs popping in to give a "Hey guys, we're working on the issue!" EA itself has been COMPLETELY silent. Even better, you can still buy the Sims 3 DLC, despite it being effectively useless now.

I just wanted to play the Supernatural pack, man. :(

Yeah I just got a laptop two weeks ago and purchased two expansion packs for the sims 3.

Customer service wasn’t really helpful. :/

My origin log in isn’t working with ea so how do get into my collection I have spent so much money on all the packs and extras and it’s all lost

Well I been a sims fan since the beginning if they do this they really won't last once paralives comes out 😮‍💨.EA Setting themselves up for failure. people will naturally rush and gravitate towards a similar experience (ie paralives) that doesn't have all these issues EA puts Sim fans through. The crazy pay wall, lacking certain key aspects like resizing etc and having to turn on cheats, and then some. I still love the sims but as this is going I'm probably gonna switch once paralives comes out 🤷🏾‍♀️

It's literally just another launcher. Every freaking company tries to have their own because rights and exclusivity I guess.

Yeah I just lost access to my Sims 4 game EA app is charging a monthly fee for me to access my game. I paid for steam and all of these packs and kits. I'm done. Not spending another dime on this game. We had a good run but I just can't justify this anymore.

Do people not realize you dont need EA play to use it ... I havent paid a single dollar for this whole change. Sims 4 is free now too so you dont have to pay a dime to play it. The EA app is glitchy now but im sure they have great things planned, because origin was way more glitchy. It would constantly crash and launch without DLC. The only thing is the EA app also has trouble processing DLC offline, though is more consistent online than origin. Over -all, i think this eventually will be a good and welcome change
