My freind EFI is where it's at. I've been running mine for 2.5 years ,6 days a week no problems not to mention its just better theirs a reason all autos are fuel injected for more than 20 years now. Fuel injection is always adjusting the amount of fuel it addsor subtracts always trying to get the best fuel to air ratio ,so when you hit a patch of thicker grass it can add a little fuel keeping the engine steady . I have tiger cat 2 61" efi it's a ripper.

This comparison not very fair and I have neither mower still a riding tractor guy but simply drop that Toro down a notch or so to cut low as that scag you wont tell difference , that dealer should have said or done that to the Toro. (all the major golf courses seem use Toros in our area I noticed.

You meant well however the only true comparison would be to measure blades to the ground and set the decks Accordingly, the numbers on the side are just numbers. The Toro was higher just by the amount of grass out the chute (or lack there of).
I’m in Cincinnati and can tell you the Toro does extremely well in wet grass, the Scag clumps in wet grass. Scabs are designed to throw and go not manicure the lawns. Scabs as a result of the large chute opening also leave a large amount of grass laying on the surface. I’ve had two Vride 2’s and thought they stripe well because of the rollers on the deck I wasn’t impressed with quality of cut and dispersed grass,, keep bringing the videos ,,

I gotta say doc you did a fantastic job on the review and you kept it honest with us I think the scag cuts really well to I'm just not seeing alot of companies using scag much anymore there using the toro grandstand and other brands so I think it's just the area your in is what it depends on

Everyone seems to hate on SCAG but they are good.
Ive got a 48 inch SCAG walk behind with a homemade sulky and its great. It does have a nice cut.

It’s just what ever you start with 95% of the time
There just mowers and that’s about it, yet deck and engine is what counts

I dont use either brand. They have to adjust the deck to the blade tip height. Just because it says 4" doesn't mean it is. You actually measure from the blade tip to the ground and you can adjust the deck so it matches the settings, fyi.

Awesome video guys and great comparison like Don said each company's equipment cuts at different heights even if they are set the same. I've ran Scag, Gravley, toro, and Exmark all at different heights. God Bless You and Mrs Sarah Brother.

Hey man,
Like your videos. I know people will laugh but I went from scag to the cub stander 54”. Haven’t regretted the change. Very comfortable and cuts just as good as my cheetah did. 👌👍

Your process is flawed and irrelevant. The setting 4 on one mower may not exactly match to the setting 4 on the other. You are commenting on the fact the scag cut more off the grass and that is your proof of a 'better cut'. Then drop the toro to the next lower setting and see how that looks. You can tell that the grass was barely getting tipped on the #4 setting on the toro. Look at the amount of clover flowers left as you said. The clover didnt just happen to grow slower on the toro side than the scag side. It should have been the same height. So it is not going to be a fresh cut quality comparison.

I appreciate your effort but will not use your opinions in this decision. (I dont own one of either of these but am looking at them all now)

It looks like the Toro is cutting higher than the Scag if it's set on 4 inches doesn't mean it's 4 my Scag was set on 4 but it was 3.5

Hey, Doc! Good video, Brother. When you had the side by side comparison of the two mowers, I though it was a joke. Toro is a tried and true product, but to compare it to a mower with the same size deck, it seemed like they threw a bigger deck on a mower that could barely handle it. Not sure I'm saying that correctly, but it didn't seem to me like Toro doesn't have a mower for that comparison. Randall noticed the same thing I did. There are no anti scalp wheels! For me, in my washboard, crater laiden yard, I rely on those wheels, A LOT! Now, I'm not saying if someone dropped off a Toro in my yard and said, "it's all yours," I wouldn't use the hell out of it. I'm saying a good Scag is always better. Of course I've only had Scags with two legs, not four wheels, so I guess my comparisons are moot. 🤣 Hope you and your beautiful bride have an awesome day. Keep it REAL! TRUTH! God bless.
Hi, Sarah!!

Nice! What a fantastic comparison. The walking behind thing in the toro is really useful. The US version of the grandstand is different to the English version though. Different deck for a start. The casters are bigger over here, and to my eyes the back wheels are bigger. We have a ‘turbo force” deck which cuts in the wet and recycles grass better. In the 2023 version they’ve also moved the gas tank and there’s now a battery box. I wonder why you guys get a different version of the machine? ✊🙏💪

Hey Shane. I would go with the Scag vride but you need the 61 inch to go with your 48 inch vride. If you have to get a bigger trailer then get one but in the long run I think you will be much more efficient and have the opportunity to make more money or at least cut down on your time mowing.

To be fair the Toro should have followed a Scag one pass mow. I've found with every mower the second pass always cleans up a first pass, no matter if the first pass looks clean and perfect. Then I have to second cut all the stripes.

Great video, a lot of guys I know swear by the grandstands/multiforce. My area is mostly Scag, Exmark and Toro, but I have started to see a couple other guys running John Deere. I was a little surprised that the Toro didn't have anti scalp wheels. I run John Deere so I don't have a dog in the fight, but if I had to choose I would pick the Scag.
Have a great night!

Great comparison Shane. One thing though the Toro handles only one has to be down to engage the blades. But those handles are the safety because they can’t put it in the platform because of the platform folding up. Scag looks like a beast side by side to the toro. Wonder if scag is good on hills? That’s the game changer for me. Must be able to stick to a hill. 💪🏼💯

You both had them on 4 but as you know not all mowers are the same height. So toro 4 could be 4.1 and scag could be 3.9. If u lower the deck it would cut better. Like don said not all mowers same height. Just like if you raised the deck on the scag it wouldn’t cut as good

Shane (and Don) thanks so much for bringing us along for this comparison. It was cool to see these brands side by side. I’m a Toro guy by default because that’s all I’ve ever run and most companies around me also run Toro’s. That said, I would love the opportunity to run a Scag to see what it’s all about. Have a blessed day! Man I want a taco salad now, Big “H” nailed that recipe. 😂

Thanks for the video.
I agree with RayRayslawncare
I don’t think the Toro and VRide are set the same. Even if the markings are the same on the height adjustment…I don’t think the blade heights are the same.
That doesn’t mean that it would change the cut quality, it would just change the amount of grass that got cut.
Keep keeping it real

You only need to put one handle down on the toro to engage the blade. The toro also cuts a true to the number scam constantly cuts shorter. 4 year 1500.
