I think g man is the law of balance in the universe the combine is tipping the scale and is ruining the universe so g man have to intervene.

i think my favorite part about the half life 1 is the build up to it. we see the facility being brought to its absolute limit, scientists questioning the safety of the experiment, and generally a uneasy idea of what could happen.

Really enjoy your videos dude. Half life was my first favourite game as a kid and what had me hooked as a gamer ever since. But I could never truly grasp or piece together the entire story beyond a surface level if you get me. These lore videos are really really good!

I personally accept all the recognised spin off games and laidlaws writings are canon since as a fan I want a fuller more completely story to be presented. Otherwise you’re just intentionally keeping the game franchises story vague.

Hl2 appears to take place in 2023. gordon was gone/in stasis for 20 years. if half life 2 took place in 2023 and the incident was 20 years ago as long as well.. the incident. the black mesa incident happened during may 16th , 2003.

What if Shepard was supposed to be the one that the G-Man had in mind at first cause he was going to use black mesa as a way to open a portal up and give him a reason to go over there and fight. However, Gordan preformed Amazingly and G-man saw that throughout Black Mesa and ended up doing the job instead proving his worth and as seen in Half Life Alyx the G-man even says that getting the combine off of earth was a big nudge he wouldn't or couldn't do and all of this is cause after Gordan kills the Nihilanth the portal storms were a likely possibility that G-man was ok with cause he and his employers wanted Xen plus he used humanity to kill it cause he can be stopped by vortigaunts but a human with a crowbar can I guess, either way the combine coming was unexpected and hopefully we will get a better explanation in any future releases.

I have to say, I have always wondered if Gman IS related to the Combine, his eyes are a dead giveaway for starters, perfectly matches the colour theme of the Combine's technology. Unorthodox theory, but could have some validity to it?

Love this kind of storytelling in game. Build around the fact that this is a game and not the other way around, show don't tell. I hate the current meta of over the top movie - games and unsinkable cut scenes.

my hypothesis:
G-Man's Employers are an underground resistance movement working to undermine the Combine empire. Among the ashes of a billion other ravaged universes, Humanity's causal volume was but a speck, but provided them with the resource they needed to exploit in order to oppose the Combine: Xen. The Combine does not have access to Xen. It was only Humanity's ability to tap into it as a slingshot for local point to point teleportation that gave us an edge in destroying the Combine's Citadel 17 and shatter its hold on our earth.
