The second video in a series of videos on the maintenance and restoration of the Italian-Japanese scooter Aprilia Leonardo (Yamaha Majesty engine).
In this episode I demonstrate the process of completely disassembling, cleaning, modifying and reassembling a Japanese carburetor TeiKei (TK) with turbo accelerator pump.
I also show you how to completely disassemble, configure and test an automatic electronic cold start valve (E CHOKE).
Intake system is the place to start maintenance of any vehicles because problems with the engine power system are the most common causes of power loss and unstable engine performance.
📌 Inspection of the fuel system is recommended once a season, even if you have no obvious problems with the performance and reliability of any machinery with internal combustion engines.
Universal step-by-step maintenance guide:
1️⃣ Prepare a set of high-quality screwdrivers, cleaning mixtures, containers for soaking parts and organized storage after cleaning
2️⃣ Disconnect the throttle control cables, electrical connectors, fuel hoses and antifreeze supply hose
3️⃣ Dismantle the carburetor. Plug the hole in the air box and the intake tract in the engine head (to avoid the infestation of spiders, centipedes and common clogging with foreign objects)
4️⃣ Uninstall the carburetor elements in detail, observing the segmentation of screws and parts (so as not to confuse and in the future not to guess what’s what)
5️⃣ All rubber technical elements (O-rings, gaskets, cuffs, manifolds) - put in a separate container and spray with silicone-containing lubricant.
⚠️ Do not allow aggressive cleaning liquids to come into contact with rubber elements!
6️⃣ Dip/spray all metal elements with a cleaning agent/solution (acetone, kerosene or a similar mix), clean with a soft brush and soak for some time in the cleaning mix
7️⃣ After soaking, re-clean the carburetor parts with a soft brush, blow with compressed air, if necessary, rinse again in the cleaning mixture and put in a clean container
⚠️ Be sure to blow out all the openings of the carburetor body, jets and other elements with compressed air!
8️⃣ Assemble in reverse order according to the diagram from the service manual.
