Jails, institutions, or death.

Honestly the misconception of everything surrounding drug use and rehab does more damage then the drugs or alcohol ever could.

I struggled with addiction for most of my earl life. Since i started drinking, smoking and taking shit at a young age. And i went through all the same things, people telling me i need to quit, get clean, and find happiness. But it never worked. Because of the very reason AA and NA dont work.

Because you arent making the choice on your very own.

I wasnt quitting because i disliked drugs and drinking, i quit because other people gave me ultimatums cause they didnt understand the nature of addiction. And my addicitons were a genetic predisposition. Since my father, my grandmother, grand father, were all addicts at one point or another.

So I was doomed from birth. Then I finally realized the truth, something i tell people NA programs, after ive been sucessfully been clean for more than 8 years. Not a drop of alcohol, not a cig, and nothing else.

That quitting for other people, will never work, because i didnt want to quit, i admitted the truth that most people are to morally shamed to admit.

I like drugs. I like getting high, I like drinking, I like smoking cigs.But i got to a point, where i didnt like it anymore. And one day, I just enver touched another substance.

I still smoke weeds, but everything else ive been off for over 8 years.

People ask me how i managed to do that, I told them self control, will, and a desire that comes from my self. Not from what other people tell me. You dont rest on god, your wives, your program. Thats a displacement of blame, and a blatant misrepresentation of your true feeling, which is why people relapse. They dont want to quit, and they doont understand that, so it comes in the form of relapsing

IF K williams actually wanted to get clean, He would of found the desire to do so in himself. But im sure it was everyone around him telling him this or that. giving ultimatums, and conditions for peace.

That doesnt help people. You cant make someone quit something based on giving them a choice you or the drugs. They will always choose the drugs.

Society needs to accept drug addicts and encourage them to want to find a reason to quit. I guarantee it would save far more lives than NA or AA ever could. Because god will not help you. No one will. You either like drugs, or you dont. Those who cant admit the truth, run the risk of destroying their lives, because of the constant stress the body is put under when kicking something like pain killers. Eventually it will kill you.

RIP Michael Williams. I knew him from Community as Dr Marshall Kane. Though a very short intro to the series but very impactful!

Four men got arrested today for selling him the drugs he overdosed on. I guess they sold him Heroin laced with Fentanyl.

I realize it was “his choice” to use again, but I don’t think he was choosing to relapse and get high on some Fentanyl. Just my opinion but I really believe that he probably thought it was JUST straight up heroin.

He’s an addict, so clearly he would know how much it takes to overdose with both heroin & fentanyl.
He didn’t die bc of the heroin, the fentanyl in the heroin is what killed him.
I honestly don’t think he realized it was laced. But the people who sold it to him definitely did & they don’t give a fuck.
He died way too soon. He was special.

I've been in recovery for 5 years and have never relapsed, and I say that because of the pride I have because of it. But my life has been the hardest it's ever been, recovery is a journey amen to that. 30 days in rehab is just the beginning, once you get clean then you have to work on yourself for who you were, if you don't get rid of the old you, you will relapse. It's a change of life. And life doesn't stop getting hard, most of the time it just gets even harder. But that's where your test comes, are you going to pick your head up and dust yourself off? That's when you know your there". I instead turn my anger towards the fact that my addiction is what got me here"🤬, Relapsing will only put me back further! SO THAT'S NOT A OPTION!
Gotta keep on going just like everybody else, when you're thinking like this, your getting it.

I was excited for his Emmy nod for Lovecraft Country which I enjoyed. Omar was my favorite character on The Wire as well. I tell ya U never know what someone's personal struggles/challenges/battles are they deal with. It hurt and shocked me to find out on FB he had passed. One of the losses of '21 that makes me sad. May his soul find comfort being at peace. 😥🙏

Goes to show. Addiction and recovery are day to day things. Serious drugs and addiction can take lives even after years of living sober and being clean. Celebrities or regular folks regardless of backround or colour. One day at a time. RIP Mr Williams.
