It is stunning, I just wish they had included a micro adjustment in the bracelet.

AP and PP are 7-8X the price … VC is 2-5X the price. The complaints about the price are coming from apples/oranges comparisons. Simple.

Very rare to see a new edition better than the original one. Although I love the purity of the first Genta ingénieur, I really like the new model, thinner and more comfortable on the wrist. The closed case back is not an issue for me as I never look at the movement when there is an open case back. I also think that price is high but justified in my view, as IWC is a serious watch brand I have always admired (not to be compared with Chopard 😅). Also think the Ingénieur is more of a tool watch than the RO or the Nautilus, refined but more discreet and under the radar.

The green/blue dial is beautiful but purchased the black dial version which is more suitable for me.

No way at 12K. However, you can pick them up for 8.5 on the secondary market, and for that price they become very appealing

Nice watch, I tried it on recently. Too small for the bigger wrist. A bit tinny, compared with a Royal Oak - but half the price, of course - yet, I feel it's over-priced.
It's still only an IWC, or Eee-Vay-Say, as a certain mightily pretentious Venice-based influencer has recently taken to calling it. I wonder is anyone will understand him if he was to discuss a BMW. But I digress...

OVERPRICED , it’s not even a Chrono .

This watch should have been 9k max. It is just stupidly overpriced and it is really annoying because it makes us miss out on it and they make less money because for sure they are not selling it at this price. It's just really stupid price politics.

I don’t really think you can have a conversation about the new IWC without mentioning the baume and mercier riviera, i’m very interested in this and done a tremendous amount of reading about it. this really feeds into a huge amount of talk about design and originality. Harwood is the man who really nailed this point with watches “ very little is original” the Riviera really makes the point more than anything else if there was no genta would we have watches like the Royal Oak? The answer is almost certainly yes ! With watches Rolex continue this attempt to rewrite history, consistently claiming to have invented things that were the work of other companies which they chose to use or taking what was largely someone else’s design modifying it slightly and then claiming it to be their own when the truth is a multitude of people were working on something incredibly similar at the same time. Apple are another company who continually go down this road. “ we invented “ err no no you didn’t. Without Genta we would still have this type of watch and it would be very similar if not identical because other people were working on very similar things at the same time, the Riviera really hammers home this point it would’ve been on the design table at the same time. The modern version of this watch has the same movement ironically as the IWC and this is probably very fitting. Yes B&M HAVE added the screw design and widened the effect, but I hardly think these things are great stretches. many people have talked about the price and they are correct The IWC is ridiculously more expensive for very little reason.

More than a year later, I finally tried this watch...It is indeed a marvelous watch (bracelet is stunning!) and I understand Richemont/IWC want to compete with the top tier brands, but come on...I would have priced it between 8-9k. I mean, not the same style obviously but you can even get a grey-market Datejust at this price range..you really gotta be a die-hard fan...

IWC loves to play with models names.... you can pick them so that 2 portugeisers look like they re from 2 different brands... Also in switzerland it's 12k and I think I saw it on Newbury in Boston and it was 10 or 11k USD. Which is a double bargain if your reference currency is CHF. Only problem is value retention, you can pick up a stunningly Genta-esque 2020 - 323904 for CHF 5500.- . That makes the MSRP hard to swallow. But I think it's a brand strategy from Richemont. At the same time downgrading JLC !?!? what on earth is wrong wit these people !!!

Bought one 3 weeks ago on the Aqua dial. I'm in love with the way the light catches the dial pattern!!

Genta also designed two more integrated bracelet sport watches for IWC, both extremely unique: Golf Club and Yacht Club II. They were discontinued in the late 70s and 80s. Genta collectors are sleeping on IWC and the latest ingenieur is the best ingenieur yet in my opinion. Very affordable and easy to acquire as well compared to the models from Patek, AP and VC. Secondhand it's an absolute steal.

Ingenieur is a lovely looking watch with great design. The problem is the price: twice that of a Pilot Mark XX when both offer a quality bracelet & the same movement!

You did a good comparison between the old Genta version vs. the newly released one (bracelet, bezel bolts/screws.. etc) but you missed to talk about the crown guards. Many people hate them, but I love them. I was keen to hear your thoughts.

I ignored this watch for over a year based upon the flak it was taking online to do with the price. Then a couple of months ago I was killing time at an airport and saw one so thought I'd try it on. I was blown away. It felt like a lower profile than 10.8mm and the bracelet was so silky. Machining seemed top notch. Combined it had quite an elegant feel. As many have said before, try it in person before judging as the pictures and videos do not do it justice. Price is high but I could probably get over that now I know the quality outside the movement. If it had a quick change system (come on IWC, you have it on other models!) and some good leather and rubber strap options (and ideally included one of each with it, a la Overseas), and ideally a nifty micro adjust (come on IWC, even CW have it on integrated bracelets now), it would be worth the price 100%. I like the crown guards and I'm less worried about the movement (120hrs reserve with a date complication is great for me) or closed case back. White dial rocks! I'd buy one now except I don't need a new watch (who does?!) and Im hoping IWC will take onboard the criticism it has received and in a couple of years an improved version will be released. Shout if you know any rumours!

IWC definitely knocked it out of the park with this one. Beautiful watch. Too bad its ridiculously overpriced.
