According to me Xiaomi makes really good hardware, but people hesitate to buy these expensive Xiaomi phones due to the software and UI. This is the reason why brands like Apple and Samsung get most of the attention. Xiaomi should focus on their software if they really want people to appreciate thier high end phones. Idk what's stopping them from providing clean, almost stock like experience atleast on their high end phones

With rhe Samsung you'll have assurance of timely updates and refined UI experience without the data leak with reliable camera and AI work. Same goes for the Google, and in Samsung you'll have option to get same specs on 6.1" display (who wants a compact phone) but here MI, I don't really know and I don't care either. BEING relay upon hardware only I don't think they'll make a dent.

I just bought a used phone with a busted camera, rest of it works fine though so its all good

When you buy 80k+ phone, excited about photography, but after 6 month you realize that , Its overheating, software is buggy, updates are inconsistent, lots of bloatwares, apart from photography rest is disappointing and forget about resale..
No doubt Xiaomi tried best this time, but when it come to pricing and experience they still behind. Most of people gain trust from Apple/Samsung now a days even their hardware is not upto date.
