ice Race part III Entering Virgin Territory
Oil and gas have been the very blood of our modern industrial society and our last major reserves are locked underneath the Arctic. Will alternative sustainable energy forms save this nature reserve?
We sure hope so.
Everyone's lives would be different if we didn't have oil and gas. We know already the reserves will be depleted soon. It seems - at the time this documentary was made - that The Situation is most dramatic in the USA. And remains so until the government and industries embrace sustainable energy forms at a faster rate than before. The country currently consumes 3x as much oil as it produces. The northernmost town in the US, Barrow, Alaska, lies in the middle of an area which is believed to contain Alaska's richest oil reserves. The local Eskimo population lives mainly off the area's natural land and sea resources and an unbending will to survive. They are now directing their energy towards the oil industry that want to exploit these reserves.
In our fourth and final episode coming up next Friday, we show how the new race in the Arctic is creating new borders and conflicts.
Well, why DOESN'T 'the most democratic country in the world' have free medicine and free higher academic education? Countries who 'pretend' to be democratic have both for free.
ОтветитьHighly educative documentary
ОтветитьAmerica can produce energy for America and Europe.
Democrats are keeping this from happening.
America could be super rich if we would harness our fuel reserves.
Humans are not the cause of climate change.
You fake environments are liars and should get a one way ticket to the moon.
Free because that is what its worth. Nothing.
Ответитьwashington doesn't understand the word "share"😂
ОтветитьFirst gasoline was created by accident as a waste product from producing KEROSENE. In trying to figure out how to make a use for this waste product, Henry Ford was approached about designing an engine that would use "this gas waste product." This is how the industry got started.
ОтветитьCorrection: The United STATES did not invade Kuwait and Iraq. SADDAM Husien invaded KUWAIT. Kuwait, being a member of NATO, turned to NATO and asked for help. A 26 member coalition of nations formed by NATO all volunteered to defend Kuwait against Saddam Husein who inveded from Iraq. This resulted in the FIRST GULF WAR--which my DAD's National Guard Unit in Oregon was one of two maintenance units that were called up. This is because their unit knew more than their regular military counterpart which was stationed in Germany at the time. AT that time the goal was to chase those invading troops back to their own country. Goal was done!
AS for the Second GULF WAR--this was invented by George W. Bush under the guise of "weapons of mass destruction" being stockpiled in Iraq. I am unclear if that was ever discovered or not. However it was the Iraqi people, themselves, who tried and hung their dictator: SADDAM HUSEIN. I do not know when or why we wound up with troops in Afghanistan or into Iraq or Iran. Other than "unstable governments" and terrorist attacks against America related to 9/11/2001. This was taken as an act of war against the USA. AS far as I know the terrorists did not attack us for oil. Neither did we attack them for oil. IT was retribution for the murdering of about 3,000 Americans murdered by planes launched in terror attacks against USA.
YOU should get your facts straight.
I do not trust this documentary, as the USA also exports oil. So how can we be exporters, if we are short to meet our needs? OUR total reliance on foreign oil has decreased over the decades. I am not sure this is correct. I watched another documentary that was opposite of what this documentary stated, and said ARCTIC oil was for export.
So which is it?
Thanks,

ОтветитьOil will not end soon but with 85 million barrels consumed every day if control and energy diversification aren´t put in place it will not pass this century for sure
ОтветитьSeveral of the biggest market experts have been voicing their opinions on exactly how awful they think the next downturn would be, and how far equities may have to go, as recession draws closer and inflation continues well above the Fed's 2% objective. I'm trying to build a portfolio of at least $850k by the time I'm 60, therefore I need suggestions on what investments to make.
ОтветитьPretty hilarious how dated this documentary is. Clearly made before the Shale Revolution of the 2010s. The US now is one of the largest oil producers, with hundreds of years of supply. There is no "end of the oil supply", there's an end of super cheap conventional supply that costs under $10/bbl. The largest players in the shale sector of 2023 have breakeven's of less than $40. At $70-80 prices even the deepest of deepwater is profitable. In the 1990s the technology to produce shale oil cost somewhere around $150/bbl. Do the math. That's the power of technology in the oil and gas industry.
The question never will be "will we have enough oil?" The question will always be, how much better production technology do we need to keep prices below $X?

With markets tumbling, inflation soaring, the Fed imposing large interest-rate hike, while treasury yields are rising rapidly—which means more red ink for portfolios this quarter. How can I profit from the current volatile market, I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $125k bond/stock portfolio
ОтветитьOh please the eskimos are a bunch of druggies and drunks
ОтветитьFree Documentary always have great content.. Keep up the good work. Keep us informed. Bravo
ОтветитьMASA use 60% of all that oil sending rockets to space
ОтветитьThat’s perfect you only killed 4 whales they should put more rig’s to push all the whales far away
ОтветитьHis entire team drives gas powered snow Mobil’s but complains about oil companies…..typical!!!
Ответить4000-5000 peoples say over millions. Yeah step aside and start shopping at Walmart on the mainland like everyone else. I have respect for tribes ect but if a miniscule amount of people cause millions to suffer is that fair?
ОтветитьJust one little spot in the artic called ANWAR got enough oil to run the whole world for 200 years it's funny when they say we got no more oil its idiotic

Very nice documentary by Free Documentary.
After Middle East, Arctic Circle has become geopolitical battleground of world's great power.
You are liars. There are more polar bears today then there were years ago.
ОтветитьI see the Eskimos are driving. Plenty of JetSki’s off-road vehicles, speed boats. Don’t those need to have oil to run. Yes they do
ОтветитьThe most important take away from this video was in the first 5 minutes. They don't care. About you, your tribe, your culture, your kids, or your opinion. And unless you have the money or firepower to stop them, you wont. And that's what humanity is.
ОтветитьSurprisingly, even now, there's a reason why the Valdez spill in 1989 is still not fully explained and therefore understood.
Yes Exxon's drunken skipper was primarily to blame for the Valdez running aground, however, the real culprit for the expansion of the spill was BP who had until just recently [back then] a standby crew of natives who were there and specifically trained, ready with supplies, personal, boats, booms and whatever other equipment would be necessary to quickly evaluate, attack and contain any spill within a few miles of their base which, ironically, they stood looking from while watching the incident unfold before their eyes as their newly terminated assignment had been jettisoned by BP [YES! THAT BP!] because they didn't see any need for them to continue keeping and maintaining gear and personnel they would never need and yet, I bet this is the first time you've ever heard of their part in this continuing colostomy bag explosion on Prince Billy's Sound.
Of all the bad players in the Big Oil business, BP is by far the dirtiest of them all and examples like the TX City refinery explosions and Deepwater Horizon #2 (yes, there was another one overseas in some poverty stricken, S. African or S. American country the tell lie vision has never mentioned nor would most care to remember, are just the tip of the iceberg but please don't take my word for it. Be objective enough to look em up for yourselves and see for yourselves how tell lie vision convinces people to beLIEve their outright deceptions
I wonder what whale taste like🤔
ОтветитьIt's could be much easier EACH COUNTRY SHOULD PRODUCE IT'S OWN FUEL THAT THE COUNTRY USES that would take a lot of the issues with transportation and oil being used and dugout
The climate change would be a DISASTER IF THE WORLD WAS GOING TOWARDS FREEZING so the evidence showing that it's worming up is in one way better then the other
Are we still allowed to call them Eskimos? Isn’t that a derogative term??
ОтветитьWays of life? All that I can see if they are crying for a bigger piece of that oily pie. Everyone goes crazy when a dog is killed; no one blinks when these guys are killing many whales? Sure that their tradition but that does lt mean it should be preserved. The Japanese's old way of life was invading other countries and killing people for fun.
ОтветитьAmerican and European governments say they want to protect Nature, but they continue to facilitate more and more the exploration and consumption of fossil fuel. The schizophrenia of Western civilization, imported by China, is provoking an increasingly tense dispute over scarce resources whose supply will inevitably decline in the next decade. The threat of world war exists, but it is unlikely that the main theater of operation of the cataclysmic conflict will be in the Arctic.
ОтветитьThe correct term is Inuit, not "Eskimo"
ОтветитьGlobal warming is thawing the ocean well the oil and gas are done them looks like there all traveling and drilling on the ice hmmm
ОтветитьIslam is not bad religion. F*k you
ОтветитьMakes me question GW. Blowing up ice in antarctic to search for fresh wells.
ОтветитьThis guy speaking about democracies and dictatorships is very confused about which one we are operating under! We are not living in a true democracy. We are moving towards globalization which will mean a dictatorship for everyone across the board! We only trade for oil strategically. We could produce and use what we have and cut government back and we could survive. Don't believe the hype, stop worshipping authority!
Ответитьlol so the eskimos want to outsource their oil drilling?? wonder where they got that idea
ОтветитьIf they could meet the promises they would be drilling already. They know they will destroy Alaska but they don't care because oil. Earth is done within the next 3-500 years because of 🤡🤡 like blue shirt boy
ОтветитьDo these “Eskimos,” not live in electricity run towns and drive vehicles run on oil? They’re also wearing polyester jackets. We hags to strike a balance.
ОтветитьAre you addicted to fossil fuels?
Ответить
ОтветитьOnly 2;21 into this and it's already crossed into the un-factual, but since they have such a wonderfully intelligent sounding Brit speaking, it's probably going to be accepted as scientific. Smart people were forecasting peak oil back in the '90's and probably beyond that. No one knows what they don't know.
ОтветитьStop war !!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьNow ??????
