I don't think a cup of coffee would have made any difference in the tests xD people really do be overestimating the effects of caffeine, especially in such small amounts you get with a simple black cup of coffee ;)

This is why PC killed Call of Duty. The kids that were near pro level got left behind a paywall of at least $2,000 for a PC with specs to get these frames. Now everyone on PC thinks they’re a level above because they are. NOT because of skill, purely because of what they play on. Insane. I’ve been shredding kids on 60hz until this year, crazy to think all the kills I “choked” were because of delay & not bad aim or reaction

I feel like this is testing more what they're used to than what is better.

I mean, higher is obviously better, but the difference between someone trained on 240 and someone trained on 60 might not be measurable the same way this is.

Back when I used to play competitively I used to use a 19 inch crt monitor at 640 X 480 at 200hz with ps2 mouse rate of 200hz. The difference over 60hz was incredible. I stopped playing when LCD screens took over, not realising I should have kept the crt

So why don't games just limit people to 60fps so everyone is equal and frame rate isn't an issue?

I play 60 fps with 134 hz monitor and I see cleaner and smoother image than 60hz and 60 fps, I see minimal difference between 134 fps and 134hz with 60 fps and 134hz.

The difference is so big because they are all used to their 240hz.. but if you put a 60hz pro gamer vs 240hz pro gamer the results would be unnoticable in most cases, except in these "pop-in" scenarios.. so in the end depends on what games are you playing and how good u are..

playing at 60 hz and fps in Fortnite, a common complaint i would use a lot was something along the lines of "but i clicked" or "i pressed, but the action didn't happen". since upgrading to 144hz monitor, i have never said those words since

I went from ps4 on 60hz tv which also just had a ton of input delay and bought a pc (7700k and 1080ti) with a 4ms 165hz monitor. That was such a massive leap it was actually crazy. I recently upgraded to a ddr5 system with 12900k and 4070ti and I play at 240 fps now but still on the same 165hz monitor and the difference isn’t as noticeable in regular games, the biggest advantage was the 1% lows. There just isn’t the frame drop stutter like I had before. For casual gamers It’s kind of pointless going higher than 144-165hz, I would use the extra money towards higher graphics quality like 1440 or 2160p

I have an old CPU (4790k) and a 3080. What happens when you have this combination is that you have a consistent 144FPS/HZ on still frames or low action areas, however, when there's a lot going on the frames fluctuates jumping from 144 to 90 to 75 then back to 144 frames. I would like to see an experiment on that since I bet a lot of people are still running on older CPUs.

This test isn't conclusive.
Practically all pro gamers are used to high fps, so lower fps might just throw them into unknown territory, while not being crucial in general

Experts will tell you that the human eye can see between 30 and 60 frames per second. Some maintain that it's not really possible for the human eye to perceive more than 60 frames per second. People’s maximum ability to detect flicker ranged between 50 and 90 Hz. The gaming and hardware industry just want people to believe that the more FPS you can get from a Graphics Card the better you will be at gaming. It's just a money grab, and unfortunately too many people don't do any research and therefore are wasting their hard earned money.

why are you telling them the settings they are testing? They should just be doing each test n times, completely blind as to what is being tested. Ideally, even the people running the test wouldn't know which config is being tested. But allowing the testers to know what is being tested is absolutely GUARANTEED to impact the results.
