This song honestly is like a WWE legally distinct version of an existing song lol like Kane's replacement theme that's totally not Slow Chemical. Still good though. I haven't played 14 in years at this point, but man this takes me back to sitting in my apartment just jamming to this song lol

I cannot ever express my full disappointment when I learned this was not the song that played on the Lanner mount. They should make a Fiendish Lanner that plays this song and keep the Warring Lanner as one that can drop from any of the 3 Warring Triad extreme trials. Or just change the song to this, it's so much more iconic to Sephirot (and better imo)

Basically the song is saying that doing the right thing isn’t always what is best for you. Some people end up hurt and exploited until they don’t want to live anymore. However, the person ultimately decides to live after contemplating about death, or attempting to die. To stop any future guilt/pain you stop being a saint. Feeling guilty for a fucked up world that can’t be fixed. The person embraces the world for its inherent cruelty, and becomes a self worshiper (devil worshiper). Where you’re the center of your own reality, and everyone should follow you. You bask/indulge in whatever makes you happy even at the expense of others, or your followers.

Why do Tree bosses always have the most raw and awesome songs in FFXIV? It's weird this has happened twice now

I still don't understand why they didn't give us the "One Winged Angel" form of Sephiroth from FF7 here, instead we get an "anabolic miss" here. Don't get me wrong, I like the fight and the song but the form.... I don't know... that's "Everything" but not "Sephiroth"... but the song is mega cool.

In MY FINAL FANTASY?!

I recently did this fight for the first time with one of the boys (UK mentor that helped get me into the game)
By the end of it the fight I said the music gives me PM5K vibes

Only to Google and turn out the comparison is so spot on with the community that spider one himself (lead vocalist of pm5k) said back in 2016 that "fiend" was a blatant straight up steal of their song "when worlds collide" xD I can definitely see why

Powerman 5000 had a legitimate gripe with this song. they failed the extreme version of the challenge and did not adopt it as their own.

I realize something in the lyrics, they’re all Sephirot trying to persuade you to corruption/ruin through temptation except for “a tightening knot to staunch the bleeding” which would actually be a helpful thing, I wonder why that one lyric is different
