Mine won’t let me turn it on. What do I do? It has turned it off for every app that I own and now my games keep on crashing because of it every time I try turning it on it does nothing.

The bar is so low for today’s human. Watched this and 2 other videos and I’m not really any more informed than when I read the vague apple discription. Would it have hurt to give some more specifics about the pros and cons of keeping it on vs off beyond just battery life. Such using a popular app as example and saying this is specifically what would happen or not happen if this app is not updating constantly. Just saying that it will not update in the background can be quite a bit vague for those whose entire existence is not their phone

You dont tell us where to go to change settings so that background refresh is on only in wifi and where to turn it off on specific apps. Meanwhile you take up our precious time telling us 6 times that having refresh turned on does not cancel notifications. You get points for stating the all-too-common fact that Apple’s “explanations” are nonsensical.

You showed the apps running in the background with a flip up from the bottom. I believe this view is called the App Switcher. What happens to apps that you shutdown from the App Switcher? Will they still refresh if I have the “background app refresh” on, or will they only refresh if I can see them in the App Switcher list?

How do you turn Safari background refresh off? Haven’t been able to find it. I’ll be in the middle of something and go to another app then back to Safari and the page refreshes ugg!

I don’t really see the difference between when it off and when it’s on,, just turn on for the apps you use most and that’s save battery health too and doesn’t drain your battery any faster than it was before

My battery health drops by from 100 to 98 in just few days after i updated ios 16.4😔

Turn off background refresh, you'll notice a HUGE bump in battery life. Location services should be turned off for all apps you don't really use or need to use location services.

My 2017 iPad has been uploading so much data constantly that it’s exceeding the capacity of the connection to my isp. My speed tests drop to usless. When I turn off background app refresh, the device starts functioning normally with the speeds provided by the isp.

wish you did ask the people in the background respect that you are recording. this bothers me to hear them talking in the background
