"Someday, people will be able to use this to make videos of video game characters getting piped..."
"Whats a video game?"
Imagine inventing CGI only to have it used to make video game characters dog each other in source filmmaker. Isn’t technology neat.
ОтветитьI swear man, Matrix really was skimping resources on those old American scientists' records, they all sound the same lol
ОтветитьMaybe it is a stupid question, but: where did you found the thumbnail pic?
ОтветитьDo video games count as CGI?
I usually like to think of games like "Spacewar!", "Pong" and "Pacman" as early forms of CGI, but I am not sure if this is strictly correct.
"The waves move in a very mathematical fashion" is now one of my favourite quotes.
ОтветитьIs it because I skimmed, or did he never mention the Money for Nothing music video?
ОтветитьAlways makes me laugh seeing CGI from the 70s and then listening to flat earthers claiming chunks of the moon landing footage and the blue marble picture etc were all CGI.
ОтветитьYou're like the CG version of Civvie <3
ОтветитьI wonder if people in the 70's and 80's thought these test demos were as creepy as we think they are now
Ответитьyou can really SMELL the lead they where huffing in gas fumes at the time
ОтветитьWhy did you put a VHS filter over all the early footage? It kinda ruined it tbh.
ОтветитьI was there, it was fucking fascinating. It wasn't terrifying at all. It was very exciting. Don't look at the past through today's lens. Imagine having never seen any computer graphics and then you saw that. It was a big fucking deal. Get over it , Gameboy.
ОтветитьI think the main issue with a lot of these early CGI attempts is that real artists weren't involved a lot of the time, and computer engineers came up with the video ideas and did all of the artistry. You can tell which CGI animations had traditional artists involved.
ОтветитьPersonally, I find Early Computer Animations as a pinnacle at its time. I mostly call it "Abstract CGI" b/c of the unusual polygons, appearances, etc.
Ответитьis rhisssss teal
ОтветитьThe dumb pun in the name, the degenerate, creepy animation and shitposty vibe of "Polly Gone" let's see if it was made by ashkenazim.
Ответитьfirst ever shit-post… 💀
Ответитьso nostalgic
Ответитьthat was friggin freddy faxbear
ОтветитьMoun 10
Enunciate your Ts.
But we thought it was cool at the time
ОтветитьOh, and: "knockoff Trent Reznor"–it couldn't have been knockoff Trent Reznor, because Trent Reznor wasn't Trent Reznor yet. He still had the moussed up hair in Cleveland or wherever he was.
ОтветитьNot Common Gateway Interface😁
ОтветитьAnother thing they did not have in the early 80s was guys trying to sound like ALF.
Ответитьwhat a terrible speaking cadence, good luck
ОтветитьI remember a lot of these tech demos between cartoons growing up. It's amazing how far we've come.
ОтветитьI’m not sure who the purple man in the intro is but he looks like a very kind, caring individual
ОтветитьIt's actually Computer Generated Imagery, not images.
ОтветитьAwesome deep dive. Reminded me of 'Outside In', that short about how to turn a sphere inside out. It's cheesy, but I watch it every time it comes up in my recommended.
Ever seen Hypernauts? It was a '90s kids show by the Babylon 5 people (same universe I think?), and even though some of the CGI looks pretty '90s-tastic, a lot of it holds up.
Epic video!!
Ответитьhi the First skibidi Toilet
ОтветитьMasons, it's always the Masons.
ОтветитьThe fact that this groundbreaking technology has come so far that it can nowadays be used by the common man like you and I to animate Patrick Star dancing to "Como te voy a olvidar?" has got to be one of the greatest testaments to human ingenuity.
ОтветитьHey guys I’m in a bad relationship and was wondering what my next moves are and I can’t go back to living with my parents and if I say anything to my partner they would immediately put me on the streets lmk ig this is kinda random
Ответитьthose look better than my models
ОтветитьIn the mid 80's I tired playing with cgi on my 4.77 mhz IBM clone....It was painful, but fun....
ОтветитьOne of, if not my first experience with CGI came from a VHS called "Elroy's Toy", which is compilation of scenes, two of which "High Fidelity" and "Breaking the Ice" were mentioned in this video. It remains as one of my oldest memories.
