Air suspension on your roads would feel like one is air borne because they're so well built and maintained. Here in Los Angeles Many of the roads are HORRIBLE. Air suspension wold get a work out.

Rotating speaker? Paying more for an added distraction that has no function is unacceptable. These designers should go back to playing video games.

Its exactly what you would expect inside, but for me they need a big refresh, if you said to me it was the model from say to years ago I would say ok ,a bit boring outside.

Judging by the comments here complaining about trim, wheels and presence, I think Mercedes pissed off the kids and absolutely got it right. If you think the AMG grill is good looking, 19 or 20 inch rims are necessary to fill the wheel arches, or compare this to a Japanese car (oh my god, did you see the Lexus range), you should not utter the word "Elegance" because you obviously don't know what that means.

The interior of the W213 hasn't even really changed much, so if that's your point you have none. If you don't like this, go to Audi. This is the best integration of big flat screens I have seen anywhere by a huge margin and have yet to meet anyone in real-life who can buy these things and disagrees. And the wood trim is sexy. I don't get the Audi geeks here - the current A6 is so ugly I don't even know what to say. They are well built, yes, but so very bland. And for BMW - they just can't make nice interiors, and I have been in a few. The exterior also doesn't help.

Also the rear looks a million times better now. And for the front - it depends on the line. In my opinion, they have all improved, but if you preferred the old Avantgarde, I can at least understand why. But if you're going for elegance, you obviously go for the Exclusive exterior (it's the only choice, really - nobody buys an E class without the star on the hood). And the pre facelift was just terrible.

I do believe that every review should tell us the type and location of all electical connections, the audio and car information provided in the vehicle really is not sufficient, My front passengers likes to watch sports, netflix or use their computer on long trips, the connection via center console and rear outlets gets tangled and very inconvenient as we usually have our dog with us too.

Thomas, a wonderful review as usual. Cam angles in the car are great especially the one looking through the windshield. it’s like we’re sitting in the car with you traveling through the countryside and villages. Although the E Class has less tech and simplified interior than the S Class, the E Class is not a good looking vehicle. There’s no class/elegance. The rear end looks like a Corolla. The M-B 250 you mention is so much classier. 2 year old M-B look better than the new ugly look. My 1990 300SE with faded paint looks better and loves the road. Keep rocking Thomas. Peace.

OOps, Mercedes I think you’ve got it wrong with the front of this one... except the AMG diamond grill...

Very good review again. I personally feel that the exterior does not impress. Very understated and especially from the front it misses the solid Mercedes look.... its way to soft. It looks small too, and has somehow to much similarity with an economy car looks. The interior is really nice, and looks premium. I like the dashboard too, its well executed.

If I ever get this, I'll have to fit the pre-facelift Exclusive Line front end to it. This is hideous.

When you really want a 2017 Honda Accord but you have too much money.

they should make a fully electric saloon, with this base design.

- Facelift
The facelift takes some time to get used to, but seeing it live makes a big difference. The power domes on Avantgarde and AMG line are a great design addition. The one thing I noticed about the Avantgarde, is that the front chrome "blade" (which is a beautiful feature) is split in two and there's a gap in the middle. Doesn't look so great and I can see it coming apart... I don't understand why some people complain about the fake exhaust...there are cars that have true exhausts (like the E 350d). And for the models to look similar and economies of scale, they remain as is. Besides, they look good!
- Steering Wheel
I agree with your assessment of the steering wheel, it is a nice overall form design but non-intuitive and difficult to find what to press because there are just too many buttons - dangerous when driving a car and trying to (de)activate a function. Switching sides for the functions is not a genius move, either. The previous model had a perfect solution for the steering wheel; simple and clear. I miss some ANALOGUE controls so you can FEEL where the buttons are without having to look.
- Displays
And any touch screens in the car is ridiculuous, becuase it's exactly like using your mobile phone while in the car and that comes with fines in many countries. Just don't do it.
- Comfort
I have air suspension in my E 350d, but I also have 20" wheels - lol. If choosing AIRMATIC, I would recommend to stick with 18" (maybe 19") wheels to really take advantage of that comfort. But I agree that even without air suspension it's a smoother ride than many other cars. The acoustic package (extra sound insulation) is a great option for people who drive longer distances and/or want to improve the sound system experience.
- Economy
The previous E-class model (the one I have (350d)) has the Economy drive mode where the car can be put into "rolling mode" to just roll without using any fuel for better economy. I have noticed that the new Hybrid models (300e/300de) have a better "rolling mode" feature, which is awesome.

Yes, please - review the All-Terrain and the plug-in hybrids (if not already reviewed) and thanks for awesome reviews! Sorry for the long essay, it started with me only wanting to comment on the steering wheel. :o)

P.S. That grey color is amazing - I'm getitng it for my next MB (E300de) now in 2021! (Even though it will be the most expensive option on the car - lol!) And perhaps I will pick it up again from the factory.
