The repair to my Sony ICF-SW100 shortwave portable radio nearly went horribly wrong...

Hi there, like many other examples of this superb little SW radio, the battery compartment hinged door failed, due to excessive pressure from the spring at the other end of the compartment. This can be repaired by partially dismantling the radio from the casing and cutting the spring using wire cutters. One evening, I decided to have a go. What a pain it turned out to be.
