2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class side IIHS crash test

How safe is this generation e class in a side impact crash compared to a modern car? The structure of the car looks far softer / weaker than that of a new one. Also The front curtain is short, so if you get hit at an angle it looks like your head could move forward and touch the hood of the car impacting you.

If you watch the same test for the 2010+ w212 e class the structure looks far stronger than this, the roof doesn’t bend nearly as much. It seems to me this could make a big difference in a severe crash. Regardless I still feel safe in my w211.
