Would you have any lens recommendations for specifically landscape and astrophotography?
Then another recommendation for if someone was to try using it for wildlife photography?
I just got mine off mpb for $1699 in "good condition" which I feel very happy about sense I was saving for a z8. Now I can afford to buy a a few lenses instead of one general purpose lens like the 24-70mm f/4 S.
So, I want to go from a Nikon D500 to a mirrorless. I like to shoot wildlife and landscapes. I want to start shooting more video. I like to travel. Next year, God bless me, I’m going to see the northern lights. Therefore, I need a camera that can withstand frigid temperatures. I was hoping to get the Nikon z7 or Z7ii since I’m trying to save money. Would they work?
ОтветитьCan someone please refer me to something comparing video capability for Nikon z7II and Sony a7IV. I'm planning to focus on video and, I would get the a7IV in a heart beat but the Z7II's superior color science is making me contemplate the a7IV. As a videographer. What camera should I consider with a high focus on cinematic travel videography, and won't disappoint me in terms of color and megapixels after using the Z7II. @ZWadePhoto ? Help plz
ОтветитьHi Sir,
I'm thinking of trading my Z6 ii for Z7 ii is it advisable?
I just do portrait and street photography.
Or I should wait for the mark iii
Thank you so much I advance.
I just bought a Z 7II and half my pictures are out of focus. What the hell? As I get older, my eyes are not what they once were, and I need autofocus. Any suggestions? Maybe I should have bought the Z8.
ОтветитьOh Jeeze, what do you recommend for an ultra-wide?
ОтветитьI'm staying with DSLRs for a bit more. I was saving up for a z8, but had a chance to catch a really good deal on used 14-24,, 28, 58 and 105mm 1.4s and decided to blow my bag on that. I'm using d780, i'll get one more used and probably gonna stay on that combo for at least a few years
ОтветитьNice video! The Nikon Z7ii is a fantastic camera. I use it mostly for Landscape photography, and portraits. I also plan to soon buy a 2nd camera, which will probably be a Nikon Z7.
ОтветитьFor now, I’m holding on to my Z7II, mainly because I spent a lot for it and won’t get much for it.
Landscape shots are great, however, when I’m in the middle of doing a shot, I always miss the opportunity to catch a bird flying by to include in my landscape shot. Somehow my Nikon prefers to focus in the empty sky.
This was not an issue when I had my D850.
I keep hoping Nikon would finally come around and actually give us a more reliable focus system for what we all paid for. Unfortunately, I believe they have moved on to their new generation cameras and left the Z6II / Z7II and older cameras to be forgotten.
I am not spending another dime upgrading to their newer gear.
I’m actually considering moving on to a different camera company. Just feeling like Nikon has let us down.
Oh i made my desission, i use now the old lenses from my dad, The lenses are older than 40 years and they blast my nikon leneses. Best desission ever.
Ответитьsub'd for granny shot :)
ОтветитьSubscribed because of sarcasm... Love you man
ОтветитьSelling my Nikon Z 6 and getting a Sony A7iv will miss the ergos, colour science and lenses but the Sony has caught up on these areas. I won't miss the autofocus and unconvincing hybrid functionality though. Nikon will probably bring out a A6 iii with the auto focus from the z9 and 33 Mp but Nikons product cycles are sooo slow that Sony will have a Aiv ii by then.
Too little too late too bad Nikon.
this was not good at all and it was read from a script.
ОтветитьWhat camera should I get for action photography? With around the same price as the z7ii
ОтветитьThe Z7 and Z7ii are good buys who need their features -- and of course they can be used for every kind of shooting -- but I prefer the Z8/Z9 for action/wildlife/video etc... AND for portrait shooting as well.
Every house has to be built on a foundation -- the Z7 was the start, the Z7ii the next step and now we have the Z8/Z9.
[OH and we also had a Z6 and Z6ii, which are basically the same but lower resolution and better in low light).
I do not agree -- I believe that Nikon discovered found out that 2 Expeed 6 processors only provide a little more capabilities than ONE and this is why the 10 or more times powerful Expeed 7 was needed. I "only" expect these cameras will receive firmware to fix bugs and add compatibility with new lenses.
The Z8 has been fondled to death, so let’s go back and refondle the Z7. 📷😂👍
Seriously though, if you can figure out how to make the Z7 work mechanically for your own particular type of photography, the image quality is on par with the Z8 or Z9.
always having a great point of view. Keep making videos.
ОтветитьGreat lens choice ... 🦘
ОтветитьHey Z. You make some great points here; however, with regards to the ergonomics, I'd disagree that they are in line with what I came to expect from Nikon. I understand that ergonomics are subjective depending on each person, but the ergos of this body are not as universally good as the standard Nikon DSLRs. This is not because of the button layout, which I think is genius, but rather the handling. I can balance any Nikon camera I own, even the Z50, with ease using 3 fingers; that doesn't work with the Z7II, and no matter how I try to hold it, I always feel strain in my hand. I really wanted to take time to understand why it feels so uncomfortable in my hand, and after holding it for long periods and trying to understand what feels so wrong about it I realized two things mainly; the grip is shallow and the backside where my purlicue is supposed to secure the grip is smaller than it should be which forces me to tighten the gap between my thumb and index putting even more muscular strain on my hand in the process. At first, I thought I was an outlier because almost everyone unanimously praises the ergonomics of the body, but then the more I was sharing my discomfort with other the more I got to know that it's a more common complaint than what I initially thought. So, I would recommend that anyone moving from DSLR to mirrorless to spend some time holding and trying to shoot with the Z7II (or Z6, Z7, and Z6II since they all share the same body). It is worth noting that even getting the optional grip did not solve the problem for me, so there's that. This is such a big deal to me that had it not been an issue, I would have never considered a Z9 or a Z8, simply because the Z7II does everything else I need it to do and some more, with the exception of AF performance in the extremely rare occasions where I shoot wildlife.
ОтветитьThe z7ii (and z7) are fantastic cameras. I do mostly events and people and cities and have no issues - people focus works great once you know it. Really fantastic value for the money. And the lens are great
ОтветитьI don't know what the fate of my Z7 II and Z6 II will be once my Z8 arrives but the Z7 II and the 24-120mm f/4 were my go to travel combination and I was always thrilled with the results. Thanks for this series.
ОтветитьGreat advice Zack. Liking this series you have going.
ОтветитьThe Z7ll is a DEAL 😊!!
ОтветитьThe biggest complaints I saw about the Z7ii (and the Z series overall) was a whole lot of first world problems. People expect the camera to do everything. I've played with the R6 and I still had to override the computer at times. The ability to hit the F1 button when Eye-af is not catching is a great tool.
ОтветитьThe critics of the Nikon Z7ii are just content creators that feel pressure to pump out stuff to keep up with the Joneses, and they have nothing to offer photography. The camera's excellent picture quality has been universally praised by those I know who have purchased it.
ОтветитьI shoot most portraits and I'm loving my z6II . Before I had d750 . I have now much more keeps.
ОтветитьI convinced my wife that I found all my gear at the side off the road next to a trashcan. Works perfectly.
