This is the scientific way to define the word snob.
ОтветитьTruth be told I'm quite surprised from the sounds of things that no-one has compared the frequency generation of a Strad to a regular violin
ОтветитьSo in the end, it’s a placebo effect?
ОтветитьFar as I know tha wood supposed to harvested In the Forest or Sherwood at certain hour to prosesesd the wood for it ,how much is true about it idk..
ОтветитьLet’s not forget that they have been “aged” for 300 ish years..
ОтветитьInteresting presentation, but your useless gestures are quite distracting. You look like you are conducting a symphony. Try speaking without your hands.
ОтветитьTonewoods, harmonics, finishing materials.... Doctors and Dentists everywhere swear they make a difference! (Guitarists know what I'm talking about)
ОтветитьWait- people pronounce fungi funji???
ОтветитьOne holding both violins a modern and a Stradivarius and can't tell the difference is completely ignorant about the quality of instruments and even being able to tell characteristics about them including age I can promise you I will never watch this channel again because this was completely ignorant a lot of what was said
ОтветитьThe reason is “Fingers of the player”
ОтветитьWait til this guy learns about Dumble amplifiers
Ответитьhow about flutes oboes clarinets trumpets horns trombones? bassoons? organs? pianos? harps
ОтветитьConclusion: overrated, just like most expensive things
ОтветитьAlpine spruce is not a species. The species is Norway spruce.
ОтветитьAnswer; because he died and we don't have a time machine.
ОтветитьSo it's just like most things in the music production industry. A placebo that can't be scientifically proven, but enough people believe it to make it expensive.
Ответитьnoodle panda says there is no secret.
ОтветитьSo it's just basically marketing lmao
ОтветитьPlot twist; They already can replicate it exactly 100%. They just aren't allowed to or they'd make the value of Strads plummet.
ОтветитьThank you so much. I was really wanting to know why the strads are so valuable and quality. You told me everything I could have wanted to know. So interesting about the slow growth little ice age spruce trees.
ОтветитьThere actually is a violin now that chemically and scientifically sounds the same as a Stradivarius - it’s called the Nagivarius. Invented by professor Nagivari at Texas A&M!
ОтветитьIn Cremona Italian 3 violin shops were on the same street. Nicola Amati advertised “The best violin maker in Italy”. Giuseppe Guarneri then advertised “The best violin maker in the world”. Seeing this Antonio Stradivari put up a sign saying “The best violin maker on this street”.
Ответитьso basically strads are the friends we make along the way
ОтветитьYeah..but, like why you didn't put the comparison of a song played by strad and by other violin so we understand what is the good sound of the strad?
ОтветитьWhy are you sorry?
ОтветитьWhy don’t u just buy coffee and brew it yourself? It’t cheaper and fresher….
ОтветитьI love how we think we are so smart yet cant figure out how a pyramid was built or how there sound so good and cant match it.
ОтветитьI had a strad trumpet, regret saying had.
ОтветитьWe can't make "new Stradaveri" violins because ,1) each tree is different, 2) each persons techniques are unique to him/her, 3) the weayher conditions will never again exactly copy those that were present when Antonio used, carved, and dried his woods, 4) we don't have his ear for the desired sound. No matter how much science can replicate the processes, it cannot replicate the nuances.
That's why computers, AI, robots, will never be as good as a human being. All of the know how can replicate the science and the particulars, but it cannot replicate, replace, or match the heart.
Just as two snowflakes are different so is every fingerprint, wrist movement, bead of sweat, that infuses the making of an instrument.
We can get close- oh yes, so very close, but they will never be a " new Strad".
Silvery sound and metals in the wood. Hmmmmm…
ОтветитьBecause the wood is no longer as dense as the old one, because of global warming the trees grow faster, hence less dense than old ones.
ОтветитьHe played head games? Now that is very funny.
ОтветитьStradivarius .
this sounds like john green
ОтветитьAnd the same concept goes with guitars that the wood, pickup and amp have little to do with the sound as it is the speaker that makes the most difference
ОтветитьIt is the water
ОтветитьI"ve played the Cello for 32 years. My mother has played it for 50 years. Her Cello is 80,000 dollars and one of 8 ever made by its maker. Mine is a copy of some kind that is maybe worth 8 grand. I can tell that hers is higher grade instrument just by touching and playing it. I can tell how good a Cello is by just touching and playing it. I can tell how old it is by touching and playing it. That double blind study....it blows my mind that someone with any experience playing an instrument cannot tell that what they are touching is a better instrument UNLESS strads are not all that and a bag of chips afterall.
ОтветитьThe wood from the 17-1800's is denser and has a tighter wood grain. This would have a direct effect on how a string instrument would resonate, project, and sound to the ear. Global pollution, smog, and other chemicals in the air have changed the way plants/trees grow. In fact, there is an organization in the US; "Great Lakes Submerged Logs Recovery Program" to retrieve logs from the lake floor that have been laying there for hundreds of years. These logs are in such high demand the State of Michigan placed rules and regulations on who and how these logs are recovered. Custom furniture makers, instrument makers, and wood workers try to purchase as much of this wood at they can. Much of the timber goes to auction and to the highest bidder. This is why a "Strat" sounds so good. You cannot match the wood they were made from. The closest you can get to a Strat would be an electric violin, and a software package with many various sound bites. Example: I play the drums and have both acoustic and electric drum kits. Having played electronic drums for 10 years, I have no need to play, tune, and transport a large wooden drum kit. I like being able to change the drum output simply by turning a knob. This video was informative and enjoyable to watch.
ОтветитьPsychology psychology psychology, human nature, and the phenomenon of scarcity are reasons why the Strad has been viewed so valuably.
ОтветитьJust another religion
ОтветитьAs a trained musical instrument, historian, I was pleasantly surprised to see that whoever did the research for this video basically got it right about Stradivari. The double blind tests were the audience did not statistically come close to choosing Stradivari was a very important point. Additionally, the research into fungus is something that is still debated in the field.
ОтветитьAliens
ОтветитьI look at it from a different point of view. With extremely limited tools, our predecessors achieved more than we do nowadays.
It's not just musical instruments, it's almost everything. Look at the Great Wall of China, built 2243 years ago, compare it to the roads in my modern city, from 3 years ago. Sit for a concert in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, built in 1886, before acoustics was studied formally, before computers or even calculators were invented. Now sit for a concert in any modern concert hall, including in Europe, you'll notice the difference. Machines from eras past are still operating, while in modern standards, if it lasts 3 years, we should be thankful. It hasn't skipped the arts, too. Look at paintings, sculptures and musical compositions from hundreds of years ago and compare it to whatever it is that humans make nowadays.
At least we advance socially.
Unless you count life in ancient Greece.
Ugh. Bravo humans.
Probably because the wood is old.
ОтветитьWith all due respect to artists and artisans the fact remains: objectively, nothing from the past can beat science and technology of today ! Emotions and personal belefs are subjective !
ОтветитьI have played many strads and other italian violins and must say, that those instruments doesnt sound better that any violin of a great maker the present day. it is just a myth.
ОтветитьMy money's on psychological.
ОтветитьWhy make more? I want people to make better, and you don't innovate without experimentation. Stop making copies and make something more.
ОтветитьAnd no facts....all speculation!
